well, you didn't stern on cobblestone generators, which basically create the thing out of nothing (even while having to have the ingredients though, but not even any equivalent exchange) and what huge advantage does having enough sand to cover the whole server has compared to, for example being able to make copious amount of diamonds (the kind of which we scorn) other than having enough sands to make sandstone mining obsolete? and that is even good, preserving the natural look of the deserts by stopping the sand mining, much as generating cobbles makes no need of hollowing whole chunks for building projects, and having multiple amounts of mine pits for fulfilling the need of materials to build the city wouldn't be favourable to having the natural habitat mostly preserved.

I'd say go for it, especially if you still have to mine the sand yourself.

I would say that anything which results in duplicating something is in the second category, and thus I'd frown upon it very sternly. If people have other thoughts on the matter, feel free to share...

I will not make one at this time then. I was of the mind that sand is one of those most useful of products, that can be a pain to get some times. The design i have tested is rather expensive to build.

I'll reveal my grand plan then. I intend to build a villager farm, giving me the resources to farm iron golems!

Also, I've been trying to set up my nether-link, so if someone logs on and goes 'hey, my nether portal came out in the wrong part of the nether, that was me. Sorry, I'll fix it when I have the time tonight.

CDY Industries' Seaview Tower is coming along down on one of the Southern islands.

The current state of it, about 30% done:

An example of what a flat here could look like:

The flat's design is ultimately the buyer's choice. The restrictions are that the floor, ceiling, walls and staircase cannot be tampered with, and water is not allowed if it causes the floor to drip onto the flat below. Also, please don't allow hostile mobs to spawn; it bothers the neighbours. :p

The view from the 6th floor public area:

My current projects on OF server.

1. Finnish digging a tunnel from the nature reserve portal to the Hub.

What is the status of this? :)

---------- Post added at 11:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 PM ----------

Two additional things:

1) There is a chest in my nature center that held my bed until recently. While I thank whoever took the courtesy of preserving said bed, I cannot remove the chest now. Would whoever placed it there please talk to Hielor about getting that removed or something?

2) I have a problem. Specifically, I have a design problem with a bridge I'm building. For the life of me, I cannot make it look good. I would really appreciate suggestions anyone has. I've got two pictures below and can provide others (and other details) if needed. Help appreciated!

Orbiteria-Sudra Highway leg is finished and ready to use, guaranteed to be mobproof (might not be ready for now though)

it is now should be mostly mobproof especially since even on construction stage, only Gerdih (who keep on falling) dies below the bridge though, but I've checked it once again, lighted up the still torchless area, and the only mob I can encounter over the platform is the Endermen (they don't burn in sunlight now?)

Its about 1/3 dug out, I'm going to dig from the Hub to the end of what I've done so far.

:edit:

I did a clean install of minecraft yesterday and deleted the screen shot with the coordinates so it may take some time for me to get to it.

Alright, well, if you just want to poke me when it gets done, that'd be great. I can use it to get back to the Commune instead of sailing for 25 minutes and destroying my 'w' key.

Try pressing Alt while holding W, releasing W and then releasing Alt. Should 'stick' the keypress so you'll keep on walking until you press W again. You can even jump and sidestep without interrupting the auto-walk. :)

Work on the Rosewood Island Nature Center & Reserve continues! To date, I have completed the nature center, the nature trail (including fencing), and a tunnel connecting a bridge Woo482 built to the trail. Up next on the TO-DO list are finishing up the campsites, building an observation tower, adding trail signage as needed, and possibly building a bridge to the local nether portal.

Here are some nice screenshots. :tiphat:

A view from the nature trail overlooking part of the island. I've managed to keep things fairly natural and "wild."

Working on some clocktower ideas in creative. Hopefully I can minimize redstone. Shouldn't require tons of other stuff.

Tonight I finished the Rosewood Observation Tower, located on the southeast corner of the island. The Tower is a ~40 meter tall wooden tower that offers excellent views of all of Rosewood Island. Some screenshots:

The entrance to the tower:

A view overlooking Rosewood Island from the top of the tower:

I may add a second level at a lower elevation at some point, we'll see. My next project is to create some ancient ruins around the island, presumably built by the long lost Pabloan tribe. Thanks to Pablo for coming up with the idea!

I really like the way Rosewood Island is developing. Keep an eye on the dynmap for new creations and developments! And as usual, comments and suggestions welcome. :)

an AMD 2.7Ghz and Nvidia 6100 should be fine methinks, although the graphic card could be a little bit outdated, my laptop from 2008 gives me a GeForce 9100, and from the same laptop manufacturer as yours (which means that the model could be produced way before 2010)

Driver: Microsoft Corporation - WDDM

I think this is your problem, install the Nvidia driver and you shall be fine

I still dont get why it worked before i upgraded from vista to win7.

Minecraft uses OpenGL, which requires you to get the drivers from your graphics card maker. The inbox drivers(that came with Win7) don't support OpenGL. Looking at optional updates from Windows Update might have it, or just get it straight from Nvidia's website. Make sense?

When you upgrade from Vista you don't bring with you the bulk of programs called drivers which is actually very essential for running your computer, windows technically only gives you a driver that works for the absolute minimum, a.k.a capable of running it but not much anything else, you should have also noticed decreases in performance while playing other games, since wddm is basically a one fits all solution while the drivers from the producer is tailored for each generation of model. In the past it was even impossible to have sound right after upgrading.

I've got the internal clock part of my tower working. Gonna make it more sophisticated (ensure it doesn't lose accuacy) and hopefully wire it up to a cleaner version of my clock face. (I hacked it together and some pistons might intersect, etc.)
The clock face is currently 13 x 13 but can be made reasonably larger or smaller.

For the record, I am not working on anything cosmetic as far as a tower. I'm not strong on that. So hopefully someone will design a nice structure to house my clockwork. I've seen some beautiful structures on the server lately.

Good luck with the design...especially with the clock face. You're going to need a lot of pistons for that.

Anyway, I'm sure you've seen that large, ugly, unfurnished square to the east of the commune. I've been building that and just quit in the middle of production. It was supposed to be a museum but then I changed it to become a market place. Now I would like to scratch that market place idea and instead propose a new aesthetically pleasing town hall. No, I'm not talking about ugly, smokestack ruins:

2011-12-20_154356-1.png

Instead I'm going to work around the existing structure and base the town hall on court house architecture:

2012-06-06_210712.png

2012-06-06_210740.png

(not sure about the inside yet):
2012-06-06_210810.png

So, here's my plan:
mchielormarketplace.png

Red: The actual structure. The majority of it is buried underground.
Green: The above ground waiting area/lobby. Should I keep this for my town hall design?
Blue: Garden. This might have to be destroyed to make way for the outside part (the stone brick stairs).
Violet: A train station for the town hall. This part isn't official as I haven't discussed it with the subway builders.
Purple/Blue: The subway Blue line (east-west).

Again,
critique, discuss and debate.
