VERSION 2.0 (July 2010)

Description:

This is intended to be a celebration of LazyD’s contribution to the Orbiter community.  It was developed on AMSO version 1.15, and has been updated to run with AMSO version 1.19 and Orbiter 2010.  It is backwards compatible to both AMSO version 1.15 and Orbiter 2006P1.  Fixed minor problems and included 2 additional scenarios.

Monument design:

The first time I saw his “Orbiter” name, I thought of cattle branding.  See following link: http://www.ranchirons.com/reading_cattle_brands.htm

Tschachim shared with me the following link, which turned out to be a confirmation of his Orbiter name and a wonderful insight into the man’s personal life.

The letter “D” on its side conveys rest.  Mostly it was easy enough to model.

Location:

Hadley-Apennines, near the crater Rhysling.  I say “near”, because Scott and Irwin came close to it during Apollo 15’s first lunar EVA.  I too like the idea of “exploring beautiful places.”  Using either Land MFD or LOLA MFD and watching the scenery go by during landing approach, I think, conveys a sense of grandeur of the place.  Note: Unfortunately, neither Land nor LOLA MFDs work properly in Orbiter 2010 as of this release date.

This add on DOES NOT require ACSoft’s AMSO, but it will look a lot better if you have that add on loaded first.  Even if the end result is meager, the learning necessary made the journey worthwhile.

Requirements

1. Orbiter Space Flight Simulator, version 2010 (build Jun 06 2010).

That's a fitting tribute to a man who certainly contributed a great deal to the Orbiter community. Those autopilots are phenominal and I'm sure have paved the way to many thousands of successful missions by orbitnauts around the world.

There is another memorial to LazyD as part of AMSO. It's pretty nice. I never got to correspond with him, but it apparent to me that those that did know him, thought the world of him.
For anyone who hasn't figured it out... LazyD worked on LandMFD, LolaMFD, and assisted greatly with autopilot in AMSO.
NukeET's Niven moonbase also makes use of this "Unofficial" monument, it's easy enough to find.

We don't know the exact circumstances of his death. His wife logged on using his email account a couple of years ago and made the announcement to his friends, who then posted the news on the forum. Since, unless you're a personal friend, it's none of your business, we didn't press his wife for details.

Unless I missed it somewhere.

Anyway, there were a few add-ons that paid him tribute. One of my own add-ons is one of them. If you've ever used Land or LOLA MFD, or watched in amazement as the AMSO autopilots fly the LM, you've benefitted from LazyD's work.

I also paid tribute in the end of my Apollo 11: Remastered video.

The real tribute would be making Land MFD and LOLA MFD work with Orbiter 2010.

Amen brother ! That's what I've been asking for ever since Orbiter 2010 came out.
We're doing Lazy D injustice by not including Lola or Land MFD

Quick look at the picture would give you an answer.

I hope his spirit is flying among the stars right now.
Well I looked him up on Google after I made this comment...
So he is legendary, putting up the great Apollo missions, and some MFDs, in Orbiter.
