New Release Arrow Freighter SAS upgrade

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE !

The SAS upgrade can now land with its attached mothership.

This happily concludes my first development cycle, as I've included all the originally intended functions.

Feel free to test and report back any bugs or suggestions.

I will now have a little break and reflect about next improvements for this learning project.

By the way, I have included the source in the archive, it's free / open / GPL, you name it

Having some trouble with the DLL version:
I can dock to it, but it's invisible. I can only see it on instruments.
Can't transfer crew
None of the keys work.

I'm not complaining by any means; I love your work

But I installed this over the old SAS upgrade. Perhaps this is the cause of the problems?

Thats's odd, indeed.

Quick questions, just to be sure :
have you installed the VC++ 2010 redistributable package ?
Do you get any error message when spwaning the vessel or scenario ?

Back home, I made a fresh install(orbiter 100830, sound 3.5 , ucgo 2.0 , SAS 1.03) and it works.

Therefore my previous questions are still valid, are you positive that you have installed all necessary VC++ redistributables ? (especially the last 2010)

OK,with SAS 1.03 you can now land with the ships all attached to the SAS,or do you have to undock all the ships first,and then land the arrow with the SAS attached?,I also noticed that you put AGED instead of AGE in the passenger list,and the ages of the the crew are numbers like 3235667 instead of just 32.Thanks for this great addon.

You can now land with the SAS attached. I don't know if you can keep ships on it, but you could try it and report here

The AGED thing is from UMMu, not me, and for the 3235667, I don't know, sorry.

Just one request... would it be overly difficult to give the SAS a fuel tank so I can use it to refuel the arrow in orbit using refuel mfd?

Or,even better,how about being able to fuel what ever ships are docked to the SAS.:tiphat:

These are interesting ideas, but IMO out of scope for this device.
The SAS is simply meant to be additional docks for the Arrow.

I have some (vague) projects to make other addons to this wonderful ship, including strap-on engines, additional tanks... There are many possibilities.

I just want to keep them individually simple , so that you can use only what you need, and also because I'm a TOTAL NOOB regarding orbiter addons

The SAS still needs a decent mesh, a control panel/cockpit, and I'd like to add some anims, like retracting the docks when in "secure" mode.

But as I previously said, I'm rather short on time these days, having, y'know, a life and all that

Besides, I joined the source code in the latest release, you're allowed to use it and spin you own version (with proper credits where due, as usual).
Just do the community a favor and don't publish crappy mods like "SAS v 10.5 : I corrected a spelling mistake !!1!" :lol:

OK ... a bit of a weird situation here. I've docked the DGIV and transferred all but one crew member through the SAS upgrade onto the Arrow Freighter. I also transferred crew from an XR5 to the Arrow and the XR5 returned to earth. I then saved and exited the mission.

When I reopen the mission, an alarm is sounding in the Arrow saying I can't land with a docked ship. The "Current State" scenario file states all vessels, apart from the XR5, are landed on Mercury.

This is so strange and very frustrating and I'm sure it has to do with the SAS upgrade.
BTW - I'm flying in Orbiter 2010 Server with D3D9 RC44 client.

From what I can see, the SAS is still in DOCKED state regarding the Hermes.
--> DOCKINFO 0:0,Hermes 1:0,Athena

Try to use the "secure" function, or manually undock it. It shouldn't move, as it is attached in (nearly) the same position, and orbiter shouldn't rant about it.

There's also the fact that I didn't thoroughly test the situation where the SAS in attached to the mothership and has other vessels docked, but if the "tree logic" is respected, the docked vessels should be seen as "attached" also.
