General Question Clickable Shuttle VC cockpit?

Well, how are the wise words. Getting there is half the fun. A lot of work is going into proving that the Shuttle can be reused.

Well, I downloaded the latest modules pack over the last "REAL" release of SSU. I keep getting CTDs Not sure why. Bare in mind that I had downloaded the correction scenarios. 1.26 RevB I think it was.

This is a No-Go. You need the latest game data from SVN to run those modules. 1.25 is is way outdated.

Remind me again where I can find the SVN again please, sorry if I missed it here.

See above... you should install TortoiseSVN, that integrates nicely with your Windows Explorer, and then checkout from the URL that I have given.

I figured I would post this here since it is probably a very simple issue and the official board seems to be dealing with a bit more serious issues than what I have.

I really have no experience with SVN. I tried it once to get Project Apollo.

So what I have done is get a fresh install of Orbiter 2010 P1. Used Tortoise SVN and the link to get the files. Downloaded modules from the link, says it is Rev. 1056, and when I try to load a SSU scenario, I get CTD, and no real help from the orbiter log as to what is going wrong, so I am thinking I am screwing up something in the SVN or the modules.

Which scenario ? Many of them don't workanymore. That's why we need someone to test them.

I tried STS-1, and STS-126, STS-107, STS-61G, they CTD. I try STS-1 and the Orbiter log gives no good information why it crashed. STS-107 I just tried I get a bunch of errors of naot being able to load vessel moduel, (SSU_LCC, SpaceShuttleUltra, SSU_TANK, SSU_SRB, SpaceHAB_RDM), even though those dlls all appear in my module folder.

Tried the CT-1 roadtest, KSC 33 HAC Test, Payload latch test and RSLS test and they load but with massive graphical issues, half of the ground texutures for KSC are grey, and the Shuttle does not appear. DUring the RSLS test, when I switch my focus from the LC-39 which the scenario starts, to STS-101, it shows my perspective on the other side of the Earth, at night somewhere with no way to switch to a VC, but looking at the scenario file these are clearly scenarios to test very specific things and not get a feel for the Shuttle.

Only modules. Gamedata has to be acquired via SVN, there is no better way. I use TortoiseSVN, that is pretty easy to use and doesn't require you to dive into command line codes.

We had the installation instructions on the old wiki, I just see that it is lost with the new wiki, I currently work on getting this all organized.

Essentially, you have to work like that:

  1. Make an empty folder, for example "OrbiterSSU"
  2. Check out the gamedata and sources from SVN into this folder, use this URL for the checkout for getting the most recent data: https://shuttleultra.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/shuttleultra/trunk
  3. Install Orbiter 2010 into this folder
  4. Install the modules pack and pray that it works... it could be a bit outdated already.
  5. If it does not work - report the bugs to us of the SSU team, so we can fix it or give you more recent modules with the already fixed bug.

Do we need to install every file from the trunk? Is there a mass download link for all of it?

All the files are required. SVN Checkout is the only way to get them.

The current module pack might be outdated; when I have the time I'll release a new version.

SVN Checkout is the only way to get them.
Alternative way of downloading the last, or chosen revision of the SVN repository, is using "Download GNU tarball" link at web-based SVN browser. This way you don't need to have an SVN client installed on your computer, but only file archiver that supports .tar.gz archives (7-Zip, WinRar, WinZip, et. al.).

To download the last revision as .tar.gz archive, click on this link [last trunk rev.].

To download revision 1056 as .tar.gz archive, which was used to build "SSU_Modules_110327_Rev_1056" modules, click on this link [rev.1056] - recommended if you downloaded the "SSU_Modules_110327_Rev_1056" modules pack.

The precompiled module pack has been updated to revision 1135. Details and download links in this post.
