HARP was a Canadian project with goal to create economically efficient gun-launched satellite deployment system. Project was closed in 1967, probably for political reasons. This addon adds gun-launch satellite system to your orbiter installation. It is based on HARP's late design - martlet-4 rocket and L86 16 inch gun.

I loved it. It's a lot of fun to fire all sorts of things out of it! Was simple to use.

WOW COOL!
100000000000000000000000000000 points for using kulch's payload manager!!!

Finally, my first orbiter addon on orbithangar :)

A lot of things were not realized (different payloads, proper recoil animation, gun loading animation) so may be one day I will return to that project. But not too soon.

Glad that you liked it.

Universal Cargo Deck is not working anymore. But that can be solved by reinstalling Payload Manager.

I got a kick out of using Cargo Deck to attach it to a Star Destroyer as a deck gun! Neat little side purpose it has! The looks of that gun really reminds me of the cannons found in Ace Combat 04 (PS2) at the Stonehenge mission.

Pros: Very well made and fun to use!
Review:
It works great. You can fire anything you want from it! It's easy to use and works just like a cannon. You simply load and fire it with the angle and direction you want. Saves a lot of fuel and makes small satelite launching all the more fun and interesting!

Pros: Excellent! Fires like a cannon! Tons of stuff to shoot!
Cons: Base flashes
Review:
Awesome! works really Great. The only thing i don't like is the base flashing but I'm getting used to it.

Pros: Very Cool addon!
Cons: none

Good Work! This is a very cool addon. You can fire all what you want! I fired teh Saturn V rocket from the HARP. Now the Spacelab is in the Mars Orbit.

Amazing add-on. To make it nicer you can implement the turning tower animation, instead of just changing the heading ;)

Very nice and original idea.
It seems not powerful enough, but i just put the microsat at a circular 900Km orbit. So don't complain about that guys

It's got as much power as you'll ever need for anything. NUMPAD + key gives you a box to input the power you want if the default isn't high enough.

How about a space gun ... like from the Jules Verne and H.G. Wells novels .. A gun that will shoot a space ship to the Moon!!

2 santy86: It was a heavy gun with a fixed heading, so I haven't made any animation for that. In possible future version I could add rotating platform for entire structure (similar to those used in raylways).

2 Rosey: A powerfull space-gun: that's boring visually - just a hole in high mountain ;)
But seriosly - it's intersting project, but my lack of knowledge for navigational tools stops me.

Xantcha, I'm currently working on a War of the Worlds project that will eventually require a giant space gun built by Martians, the proverbial "hole in a mountain". I think I can build the mesh if you can provide the code, otherwise I have to half-ass it using spacecraft3 or some other method. Interested? Click here:

Try firing this gun on the Moon...
You can achieve escape velocity with very little effort.

Nice Addon Xantcha!

Are you going to implement the different guns Bull had built over the years?

In mid-1965 the HARP project was in full swing and the big 16-inch gun on Barbados was making regular firings. 5-inch and 7-inch HARP guns were conducting launches in places as diverse as Alaska, Wallops Island Virginia, Highwater, Quebec and Barbados. Progress on all technical programs was advancing significantly, despite funding problems. Volumes of scientific data were being collected from all aspects of the program.
The third and final 16-inch gun of the HARP program was installed at the Yuma proving grounds in Arizona. This gun was practically identical to the Barbados gun, although it did sport several improvements as a result of lessons learned during the construction of the Barbados gun system. Unfortunately the Yuma gun enjoyed only a short operational life with only a few launch series being conducted there. The Yuma Gun’s sole claim to fame was that on November 18, 1966 it lofted a Martlet 2 vehicle to a world record altitude of 180 km, which still stands today.
In May of 1989 the Baby Babylon was completed at Jabal Hamrayn, 145 km north of Baghdad. The horizontally-mounted gun was 45-m long with a 350 mm barrel, and had a total mass of 102 tonnes.

I get a CTD when using the test scenario, is there anything required by the DLL, that I might be missing? Nothing especial in the orbiter.log, it ends right after loading the Module of the Gun.

2 urwumpe: strange.. can't think of anything that could cause this.. :(
Can you create gun with scenario editor? Also, does it work with clean installation? in theory it should be compatible with anything, but in theory it should not cause ctd as well :-/.

2 Lunar Lander: I'm definetely interested in making HARP's rockets that were actually fired (and for that I will require "minor" gun as well). Plus it could be cool to have a nice scenery of barbados shore and "historical" scenarios with correct test dates and correct locations. updating rocket aerodynamics won't hurt too.

All this is planned for next version which is not the highest priority.. Besides, right now making orbiter addons is not too high on my priority list too :-(

And babylon gun is whole another story.. may be it will be included in version 2, but most probably not - it was not built, so information is really scarce.. it is also "terrain mounted" so more work will be required for mesh modelling/texturing. And there is already lots of stuff to do even without it.
But of course babylon gun is cool. May be when I'll be doing "Gerald Bull's series" or "Gun-launched addon collection" ;)

Had already tested it with the scenario editor before you posted, did work properly. Only the fins on the Martlet4A did not deploy.

Something is wrong with the "HARP Test" scenario, but I was not able to find the cause.

My Ummu human cannon ball expairiment ended quiet badly, a burning stump, but I was abel to launch a DGIV and an XR1

Edit: hit the South Pacific Ocean from the moon.

I placed it on moon, loaded a UMMU into it, set muzzle velocity to 10000 km/s, and the high G forces killed him (and after the impact he came out on the other side of earth):
