I was curious as to what results others have had out of using binoculars for ISS viewing. Whenever I try this with anyone they say all they see is just a point of light, but I know I can always see the very vague "H" shaped silhouette of the ISS. I can definately tell that it's a structured object up there. Also for STS-132 I swear thru binocs I could roughly make out the delta wing shape during the first flyby that evening after launch when they must have been in a low "chase" orbit. This also was possible for STS-134 the night before their return. The binoculars used are just old Nikon 10 x 50s. Is it worth upgrading the binocs for just this kind of viewing, or should I just get a beginner telescope and try to start looking at the planets?
