Boo!

How can you hate someone who once punched Piers Morgan in the face?

I don't hate him, he's just in the wrong job. If he assaults people, his problem.

Well, bit of a disturbance, a punch-up, argy-bargy, fisti-cuffs. I'd say it implies some physicality, not just verbals.

A fracas is "a noisy disturbance or quarrel". Probably involving shouting, calling bad names, waving of arms, but not actually punching anyone (that would be a brawl).

It sounds like he was just a bit too edgy for the BBC.

Which is extremely edgy for the rest of the world.

Not really, the BBC seems to rather inconsistent in regards to what is or isn't acceptable. "Anything goes" for some subjects and yet still be very prudish about others.

If you look at what some other comedians BBC has no problem broadcasting say, you can argue that the playing field is nowhere near even.

Frankie Boyle, Jimmy Carr, Jack Dee, Sean Lock all get away with saying stuff on stage that Clarkson would be lynched for saying in private or an interview.

That's what I was getting at when I said "the BBC seems to rather inconsistent in regards to what is or isn't acceptable."

I take anything that Clarkson says as tongue-in-cheek. Despite being a yobbo sometimes, when he is being serious he can be a very good presenter.

This is a tragedy. I love Top Gear, Clarkson, and the chemistry of the hosts. Without Clarkson I may as well be watching US Top Gear. (Which I actually think has gotten a little better.)

BBC has had it in for Clarkson for a long time.

I watch a lot of British TV. Other BBC personalities (scripted and unscripted) say a lot of things that would cause a poo-storm in most other countries (especially on a publicly funded stations like BBC or PBS) but they never cross the line of established government dogma the way Clarkson supposedly did on many occasions.

It's kind of like a ruckus....

I like Clarkson, too, but I don't think it could possibly be that bad! The US version was horrible, are you telling me it's still around?

Clarkson is an opinionated jerk sometimes, but that strong personality makes the show interesting. And he does actually know what he's talking about regarding cars (usually).

They are airing it in Germany as well... it is horrible!

I still love his review of the Bugatti Veyron... that was art...

If there was a hint that Clarkson had resorted to any kind of violence we would have been told about it. Clarkson-bashing is a very popular past-time in British media.
