Request Orbital Sciences Antares family

OK, good enough for starters, a few yards won't matter much when you put your meshes on! Just to see how far the level 9 tiles need to go out from that point.

That's just a texture applied to a base group.

Can someone point out the VAB for this base? Thanks, N.

It does not yet exist in the Digital Globe pictures, these are VERY old. The Conestoga launch pad was demolished in 2008.

The new VAB is the bright new white hall with the distinct US flag at the end of the road at this picture:

Here is a picture from 2010, two years after the conestoga pad was already demolished (Note the green construction vehicles near the launch pad):

(And of course, how different the pad area looks at high tide.)

And there is one from the time when the conestoga was under development and the launch pad complete, but the Taurus launch (LP-0B) pad did not yet exist (it is not visible at least at the lower right corner):

The Antares VAB is actually called the Horizontal Integration Facility (HIF) and is owned by NASA. The only two "VABs" that I know of is the one at KSC LC-39 and the Vertical Assembly Building at Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF).

Well, looks like we should maintain a project dictionary soon.

Also check out this map for all the Antares/Cygnus related facilities at Wallops/MARS: http://www.orbital.com/Antares-Cygnus/files/Antares_Launch_Site_Map.pdf

Keep up the good work Don! As of today I don't have the skills to make such excellent meshes, and completing them in only a few hours work is close to impossible for me......

Damn, that was the kind of map I was searching the whole weekend. :facepalm:Thank you!

(EDIT: And it confirms what I already suspected by the photographs of it: In the background of the launch complex pictures IS a Aegis Test Complex)

To the best of my figuring.

The VAB position is incorrect - it's not even in your picture, just behind the three way junction on the right edge of the picture. See the map I posted above for the correct position. :tiphat:

Yes. you can even see the shadow of the smaller water tower in the picture south west of the T-junction.

Sorry, but I can't seem to connect to any sites from Orbital.com

Dons Google map is right, the overlaid image just covers the roadway near the tower. You can clearly see the HIF in Dons sattelite cap.

For Don... http://www.orbital.com/Antares-Cygnus/
Midway down the page, GPs map direct from OSC, the HIF is closer to the X-15 callout

I started this one at OrbiterWiki, for keeping some information grouped together, I recommend somebody new to OrbiterWiki to NOT post external links since this might trigger the spamfilter for a new user.

See it as a supplement to Wikipedia, where own research is permitted and relevance criteria are softened up. What stands in Wikipedia must not be duplicated, but we can write things there, that would make wikipedia admins go wild.
