The pictures are below.

This one is designed as a pure stealth fighter jet. With the only purpose of hunting down other jets, it is structurally capable of up to 9g of load.

Looks anti-surprisingly familiar.

Here is another new picture, you can clearly see the canards here.
They sweep up above the wings, that seem to be on a downward angle.

I -cant- wait till it starts flight tests sometime in January 2011, were we will get a lot better pictures, as we did with the PAK-FA.

So far the most accurate eyewitness render:

Another spinoff of the F-22... gosh and golly, what a surprise...

Oh well, between the US F-22, Russian PAK FA and the Chinese J-20, at least world war 3 is gonna have some fun dogfights...

Saying that is like saying every new plane was a copy of what came before it. There is only one shape to most efficiently deflect radar, and another most efficient shape that delivers aerodynamics, and combing the two will -always- deliver similar results. Why do you think every passenger jet liner, at the end of the day, looks the same? Why did all the fighter planes of WW2 look pretty much same? With their own slight differences, but overall the same. It is because they where all trying accomplish the very same thing. It is the same reason why we point antenna dishes out towards the cosmos looking for sings of intelligent life. Same reason that 2+2=4 here and in the Andromeda galaxy. The same reason the US Armed Forces have the exact kind of disruptive pattern camouflage that Canadian Forces developed.

1. Convention.
2. Simplification of research. (Starting on the basis of a proven concept, thus, convention.)
3. Security of potential customers with tastes adhering to convention.

EDIT: Also, don't think no one over steals designs, especially the Russians.

Because the Tu-4 was an exact copy of a B-29.

I think that picture must be a render - as far as we know, it hasn't started flight tests. It took even the US some years to get the F22 right before it entered service, so the same may well be true here.

Looks to be a render, rudders seem too big. And it is of too good quality...you have to think that such pictures are obviously shot from other planes, and the photographer would be too easy to identufy (only so much guys with a camera on a certain plane on a certain time) and leaking them would probably be unpleasant.

But yes, to claim it is an F-22 copy would be like claiming that a P-51 and a Bf109 would be copies of each other since both have low wings, despite many differences between them.

And please remember that this is most likely just a prototype...juse see how much the F-35 production prototypes differ from the X-35 that flew more than 10 years ago...and the F-35 still has to enter full rate production. It takes time to develop a system as complicated as this.

What do canards do to the RCS in the forward quarter? (15-25 degs off course)?

I would say, not that much, it should be possible to bend the radar around them, for selective wavelengths. The rest of the aircraft isn't exactly stealthy anyway, it is a compromise.

Certainly not. Closer to being a spinoff of the PAK-FA, and even then, not really.

Izaak certainly has a point about designs being stolen, but, for example, neither the F-22 nor the PAK-FA has canards, and both the PAK-FA and the J-20 have vertical stabilizers that are smaller (relative to the rest of the aircraft) and more widely spaced than those of the F-22.

Also, the J-20 has a triangular body, whereas the bodies of the F-22 and PAK-FA are semi-rectangular in shape. Except for similarities mandated by stealth and aerodynamics, the three are entirely different aircraft.

It's like the F/A-22 meets the MiG-25. Very very very suspicious.

MiG-25??????

What?!

I can see where some people might get the "looks like an F-22" idea. But MiG-25???

This is a MiG 25:

I completely fail to see the resemblance...

As long as I don't see it flying, it could still just be a Su-30MKK in disguise...
