In version 2.2 it appears the Proton explodes every time after 1/2 staging! I tried three times with different payload DLLs on clean Orbiter 2010, and my "Damage simulation" option was turned off all the time.

Am I doing something wrong, or should I just accept it as a bad omen for the today's launch? ;)

What about removing damage seed lines in the scenario? AFAIR there were similar reports for the R-7, with happy resolution BTW.

Try removing the vars lines. I'm not sure, but at least that's the only difference I saw on a scenario for the Soyuz Thorton corrected for me.

Got it! I was going to make "lightweight" Orbiter settings and unchecked the "limited fuel" checkbox along with the others... :facepalm:

Two big surprises here:

1) Proton still can fly
2) Thronton cared to simulate what happens when exhaust jet from upper stage scorches the top of the lower stage, filled with propellants.

I'm speachless... :hailprobe:

The Proton launch veichle wont work for me because I havent loaded the payload. Do you have an addon for this?







Forgot to say that the only scn that works for me is the one with no payload.

Read the included manual to find the list of required addons. In this instance, you need [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3737"]ISS v3.2[/ame].

Sorry, I did mean 2.2. The current version, at any rate. My point is that Proton allows the user to launch custom payloads. The seventh page of the manual explains how. :)

I'll eventually try that. Say, what date was Proton 1.0 released?

EDIT-How would you get the SAS (Escape Tower) on it? I'll try modifying the dummy Zond scenario.

Do you have any hints for me how to calculate the pitch values and time when pitch maneuver starts for the pitch program file to bring the payload to a certain apoapsis / periapsis?

Trial and error does not work so well and it takes a lot of time.

Any ways/chances of adapting addons for Proton LV 1.0 llike Zond or Venera-9 for the current 2.2? Such a bitter waste of addons...

The addon is good. Flies well. Looks good as well. But there are two things that I'm encountering:

-Without automatic countdown, Proton cannot be launched manually.
-Autopilot turns Proton into an SR/IR/ICBM.
Well, those are the only issues I could find.

I'm wondering if it's possible to make the fairing gray, as in most recent Proton launches, i.e. those for ILS.

This might be a dumb question, but how does one get the old Soviet flag to appear on the 2nd stage like it is for the Zond mock up?
