On Sunday, July 12, 2015, the AESD completed the first Personal Watercraft Performance (PWCP) program mission. The mission objective was to test the maximum speed for the SeaDoo RTX personal watercraft. During the test, the PWC operator concluded that the top speed of the mission was 66 miles per hour (mph). The specifications: RTX was almost fully loaded, and the operator weighed approximately 150 lbs.
During the mission, the RTX was put through full throttle exercises, both in a gradual and rapid onset. This entire setup allowed the AESD to observe effects on atmospheric drag, water traction, passenger reaction, vehicle maneuverability, stability, and etc.
