Very rare find here, a series of "natural" videos of the STS-51L crew training. Rest in Peace to the crew of Challenger.:(

I don't know if this MIT course about the Space Shuttle was posted before, but definitely not in this thread and I think it should be here. It's a lot, 22 lectures almost 2 hours each, but worth it. I'd say it's for those of us that want to know something more about this amazing vehicle but feel treated like idiots by the average documentary with all pretty pictures yet no substance. The speakers are all people that have been involved in designing, testing and operating the shuttle, and apart from a few moments the lectures go just deep enough to be interesting without the need to have an engineering degree. Only downside is the audio (but still ok) and lack of slides in the video, though most can be found as PDF's here. I think this one's a real gem and I wanted to do my part spreading it among those potentially interested.

wow... quite a mission and that space station shown is the Dual Keel design. I always loved that look, it was so futuristic when I was a kid!

It's also interesting how the exhaust doesn't look like particles, but a rippling solid object.

The video would have been made around 1985 so the graphics are just a little dated. Chances are particles effects didn't exist then.

Out of the Present - a documentary based Sergei Krikalev on his mission to Mir as the USSR breaks up.

It looks really cool. And the fact that the footage is real makes it very cool/
