I came across this a few weeks ago, surprising myself I had not come across it before as it seems to have been under development for a few years. Looks like a very exciting project to any Star trek fans. A free to play, community developed, bespoke engined Star Trek game that "we've all dreamt of".
I thought I'd post it here for anyone like me who was in the dark until now.

From what I can gather it's development team are from the Star Trek Bridge Commander modding community. And the game engine they've developed looks really quite nice and way ahead of any game from the franchise so far. Here's a download link to their model viewer/tech demo if you want to see it running for yourself. http://www.moddb.com/games/star-trek-excalibur/downloads

There's plenty to read up on, with regular blog updates and forum posts. It seems there's little chance of development stagnating for such a bold and ambitious community project, judging by the enthusiasm and apparant progress displayed. Fingers crossed.

I searched this forum but could not find anything regarding this. I thought it'd be remiss of me not to bring it up. There has to be one or two of you unaware and likely to get as equally excited as I am.

If this game's development was common knowledge and I've had my head in the sand, apologies for stating the obvious.

It has been dev for years now. And yes they are making progress yet there is little point in getting too excited as there is only a limited chance of any kind of playable content getting out this year.

I'm very patient for this sort of thing. I can wait. This goes right up there with the Ravenstar mkII on my 'must stay alive long enough to have a go' list.

Don't worry, I'm not bouncing off the walls with excitement. It's just not often I come across something I'll enjoy anticipating. Not nowadays anyway.
