what do you mean by 2D mode? are you talking about a 2D Cockpit?

If you want any help you have to give more info:

What vessel are you using? Does it happen with all vessels or just one?

Have you recently installed any add-ons?

Have you recently installed ANYTHING on your computer?

What do you mean by 2D mode?

Does the frame rate return to normal when you switch back to whatever mode is not 2D mode??

As is, your post will probably not receive any answers

So, it seems to be an issue with your video card, and not Orbiter.
Can you try the solution in the second post to last in that thread, and tell us if it has an effect?

Or is your problem similar to this:
http://www.orbiter-forum.com/project.php?issueid=448

After experimenting with my graphics card settings I found the problem. Here's the info for anyone else who ever has this issue.

My graphics card is: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X

The setting with appears to cause the problem is in the windows control panel under 3d settings, it's labeled Antialiasing settings. Set this to Application-controled.

You may also wish to set Anisotropic filtering to Off or set it to Application-controled and then in the Orbiter launch-pad set the filter level to None. This will improve the framerate some more.
what settings? what is he talking about? where do i get to these? i see no "3d settings" ,thanks

I don't have such a video card, so I can't be sure, but there should be a Nvidia icon somewhere in your Control Panel (classic view of course; standard view is useless,) or a Nvidia Graphics Options icon somewhere on your taskbar at the bottom left of the screen.

EDIT: Sorry, it's the bottom right. I just have a weird shell setup. :p

I have Nvidia blah blah blah whatever card and its just a control panel. the description given seems pretty specific to me. Just look in your control panels and make sure you can see all of them, i dont know about windows 7, but in vista there were only a few controls available unless you click on "classic view" which shows all control panel icons.

So thats
>Start
>Settings
>Control panel
>icon view or list view
>Nvidia
