Go to the street view full screen view, and take a look around, go down the road, it's trees, trees, and more trees for thousands of kilometres, in every direction.

To see how really remote that is, take a look at these population density maps of Canada. There is more empty Canada, than there is the whole of populated Europe.

This gives me an idea: How to solve overpopulation: Canada... or Russia.

But still, awesome pictures, almost no signs of civilization.

That image is quite old, there is a lot more coal there now ;)

Also there is plenty of room for more. While that might be a typical image of Australia, there are still a large number of habitable areas.

That's a great diagram.

Of course as our technology improves so does our ability to live in remote places or to find resources in those remote places thus pushing the requirements for a prescence in those ares.

I've seen some bizarre images on Google Street view. One was a man with what appeared to be a horse's head (I believe it circulated somewhat), and another of a man soliciting... eh... certain women. :facepalm:

Keep your eye out for that little Google car.
