Sad to lose such a beautiful plane!

More of a shame to lose one of the crew. A jet is just a piece of metal and plastic. A person isn't.

Yeah ok but if you do demo's you know you have a very large chance of dying.(in comparison to walking on the streets or something like that)

Luckily this time no civil passengers and children died in an aircraft crash. Nothing to recover, nothing to clarify.

Fighter pilots do accept the high risks. They live with it, and sometimes they die with it...

Igor Tkachenko, Commander of "Russian Knights" aerobatics group was reported to die in the crash following the collision of two Su-27 jets. The accident happened in air over the airfield in Zhukovsky on an Air Force day and some days before opening of major Air Show near Moscow, so there was already lot of public to see it happen. Eyewitnesses describe a mid-air collision between two fighters flying on one wing shortly after an aerobatics exercise. A wingman's plane hit the leader's two seater. The leader's plane was heading into a large suburb area, but after ejection of one of the pilots the plane swayed aside and crashed in the field. There was an ejection attempt made by Tkachenko at the last moment, but his parachute failed to open. The second Su-27 crashed onto a living building, the pilot has ejected. There is still no confirmation of casualties on the ground.

As if these news weren't bad enough alone, a Yak-52 trainer aricraft crashed today as well near Drakino airfield, taking lives of its two pilots away (a man and a woman). R.I.P. too.

Well in that case there's no need to be sad for the plane either. It had a high chance of fallnig apart.

Am I correct in thinking that the copilot aboard the YaK was a rather famous aerobatic pilot? I believe she was the daughter of a Russian Knights pilot, so they've lost two of their 'family' in one day. Very sad.

Not exactly so. Anton Khachkovsky was the son of a man who served Russian Knights for a long time as the squadron's navigator. His partner was Svetlana Fedorenko, a famous aerobatics pilot.

No, looks more like weapon hardpoints to me. The left plane at the 3rd pic wasn't damaged, it was just another plane which was flying in the formation.

Today Investigation Committee of Russian Prosecutor General's Office published a report which puts full blame for the crash on the Russian Knights commander Igor Tkachenko. They say he "let pass certain violations of flight rules", which lead to the catastrophe. No criminal case will be opened, because the guilty person died.

That's a shame that one of the pilots died. Those are amazing aircraft and it's sad to see those lost as well.
