Thanks for kind words ;)

One need power of course:

And yes it's connected to the base, it's just that the wire is burried. ;)

And my current wallpaper in 2560x1024 (dual screen) In big it's great for such desktop :)

This is getting better and better. :)

Awesome models. The inflatable base is great - will it fit inside a DGIV too?
And do the panels have a real function? Like without them, the base will not work?

This is just marvelous Dan. This might revolutionize the whole orbiter simulation - it just seems so much more than just an add-on.

These are... incredible! I am so totally looking forward to this release and what other people manage to do with it. Exciting! *shudders with excitement*

Dan, regarding the DGIV docking bay on Arrow: does a DGIV just pull up with its docking port open, some bay doors open up, and the DGIV moves inside to dock with a docking port (after which, bay doors close), or is it some kind of attachment system? Just wondering how that works. :)

Wow! really cool, Dan, Dan, Dan, the man You rock.

Hey Dan don't mean to bug you,and this is a little off the topic, but is there any way to make your fuel dumping in the DGIV visable from the outside view, in your corrected version of DGIVversion 2 for UMMU.Just thought I would ask. thanks

I must say it again:

This looks so cool.

:speakcool:

Wow, this is great. I'll be sure to use the inflatable base and rovers on my first trip to Mars!

Dan, you are truly awesome. This is one of the most amazing pieces of work i've ever seen. Well done!

Just before sleeping I had also the time to work on UMMU code, this guy will gently dy with a last breath if you switch to cloth in space. I don't put a safety on the command because it's fun :) (SHF+X)

Would this really need to be the case for vessels that have O2 cabin pressure, such as the DGIV? In real life, STS and ISS astronauts do not wear EVA suits once in orbit, only during launch and reentry. Otherwise they just wear their flight suits.

I know this would probably add another level of complexity, but couldn't this be based on condition that cabin pressure is certain level and whether UMMU is in the vessel or out? Would give the ability to create a scenario where, just for example, there was a small cabin leak(?) and you had x minutes or seconds to get everyone's suits on before O2 runs out, etc. (Scene from the movie Apollo 13 comes to mind. Jim Lovell's wife has the dream before the mission. "Ken get your helmet on!")

This is going to be a beauty when you finish it.

My only thoughts at the moment are that you could make the solar panels larger. It would feel more realistic. However, you've already done so many incredible things with this add-on that you are free to disregard this suggestion.

I'll concede the point. Chuck Norris Solar Panels for the win!

Dan,

Excellent work. Your add-ons always raise the bar. Now you can go places with a purpose. This was certainly the goal of the original package. I'd say you succeeded marvelously.

Matt

Dan,

I'm beginning to think you have a group of software developers trapped in your basement.

Seriously, though, how do you get so much done? I mean, here's this already cool add-on, cars for Orbiter, and in a week or so you're adding a ton of new features. You seem to be able to work very quickly and/or efficiently.

Or it could be those developers trapped in your basement, doing your bidding.

Dan, One request - When it's all done can you post a note but hold off on release for a week? I need to be nice to the wife that week so I can get the weekend to play with all this cool stuff

Advanced notice given....now sod off!

I answer quickly to some questions:

"that you could make the solar panels larger"

Solar panel are maybe the only thing in base that are realistic. They would really fit in box, are easy to manipulate and install for a man, if you need more power just install ten of them ;)

"This was certainly the goal of the original package"

Sure, such ideas are in my mind and was always my goal since DGIII. It's not over, one can push things a bit further but this would be a whole game in itself. Anyway details make the difference and here we can still add a lot.

"Would this really need to be the case for vessels that have O2 cabin pressure, such as the DGIV? ? In real life, STS and ISS astronauts do not wear EVA suits once in orbit, only during launch and reentry. Otherwise they just wear their flight suits"

What happen in vessel itself is responsability of authors, not UMMU. Would be really to complex to manage for UMMU. Well...the best reason is: I don't have so much time :)

"to make your fuel dumping in the DGIV visable from the outside view"

Last time I checked they worked ? you have a tiny smoke comming from wings when dumping fuel !?

"Dan, regarding the DGIV docking bay on Arrow: does a DGIV just pull up with its docking port open"

Door bay close/open and inside you have a docking port just like ISS.
It may be tricky to enter the bay and then forward a bit to reach the dock
(there is not much place) but hey... we are all great pilots :)

"Seriously, though, how do you get so much done?"

Started my first prog with a VIC20 (ancestor of Commodore 64) and my first modelisation was on amiga (at this time 40 poly was a huge model ;) )
Now I work about 16h/24h non-stop. Once finished I really must return to real life. Money command.

NEWS:
Mhhhh I'm trying to rework the displacement method of UMMU, sorry to say but Orbiter is a real crap with ground contact physic. I'll try a bit but will not spend hundred hours on it. (now my UMMU jump on keypress , but it doesn't look really exceptionnal (boring after a while) and there is many problems to solve. It would require animated model and 1-2 month work to look good, I don't have this time for UMMU.

Cheers

Dan
