Project VesselBuilder for Orbiter

Because I suspect many people that will be using vessel builder wouldn't know how to use one, and because having to go and commit manually every time you save would probably be too inconvenient for many that do. So to really make the best of that feature, some form of UI integration seems unavoidable.

Not too inconvenient with TortoiseGit...

Sure, having a way to plug it into a (existing) versioning system would be great, for example if you use multiple VB vessels in a bigger project. But I don't think we could find enough add-on developers to sign a petition to fred18 to change his mind there and do the extra work.

Maybe some bribery helps... What about one of those, Fred? 5 trillion?

ah because the "listen_from" option gets all the key pressed on VB and tansfers it to GV!

Right.
As long as we're on the subject of GV. Does the ID TW_xx.xx get read properly for the trailer ?

that never caused issues in GV. I guess there are issues now?

Are they fixable in VB ? Maybe an event to trigger trailer wheel activation ?

That actuall depends on how much extra works it is and if it has impact of users that do not exploit those functionalities. I think that most users that know how to use those kind of items, also know how to code a vessel by themselves without the help of VB, so I don't know if it is actually useful, but if it doesn't bother non expert users and if it's not too much work to do I can think about it. Anyway I don't know anything about those systems, so that is the first entry barrier

oh come on, bribery is never the answer... do you have anything more recent and more expendable?

I lost you for a second, what does not work?

The trailer doesn't turn very well, so I don't know if the ID attachment is working correctly. And when I start a scenario, with the trailer attached to the GV wheels. It immediately unattaches and won't reattach using cntrl+G. the only way to attach is with using Attachment manager.

Got it working !! :hail:

Had to have the name TW_xx.xx twice.

Still need the lights changed to Alt+L, please.

Has anyone been able to use a thrustmaster steering wheel with GV ?

Can you post a cfg and scn? I know the trailer wheels will not turn like the front
It would be nice to have Ummu or something to explore

What do you mean ?

Well, getting started with git is actually very easy, if you want to learn it. Since it needs nothing more than a working directory as minimum, you can quite easily use it for any project you already have.

I even use it for versioning small windows batch files, because of that small footprint.

This explains the CLI version of git very well, maybe it helps you to understand it... staging and committing would be all that is really better if integrated into VB I think, the more complex operations could be handled by the user as required - by git shell or by tortoisegit or visual studio code or....

Fred, no rush but how about a release of VB ?

It's good enough I think, at least for stuff like planetary landers and probes.

Thinking about the old Surveyor addon used to demonstrate Spacecraft.dll

VB can handle that already, and it would be worth having for 2016.
But until we can release it, there's no incentive in doing it.

If I can figure out the Air foils in VB, I don't see why not.

Thanks for asking.

Hi! yes, I know the times are mature for the first release.

In italy we are in the middle of a long stripe of holidays (2/3 weeks almost) due to the combination of a series of national and general holidays so I keep going back and forth from home with the family and I couldn't touch VB in this days, but ou are surely right, it's time for this to go to OH, and then I will keep updated that, doesn't matter if I update the package every day.

I wanted to make some documentation before making it official, I will try.

Sure, same here this is holiday season!

May I suggest "Vinka style" docs? A list of parameters, and a good example :)

DG is great but way to complex for a newbie.
Perhaps you can use my satellite mesh from [ame="https://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=7108"]Test Satellite (Vinka's Spacecraft4)[/ame] and also have something simpler.
It might be a great way for people coming from Spacecraft4 to get started.

(I'm also donating the mesh for future Multistage versions, if you need a payload)

Would be totally sweet if someone could come up with a SC3/4 to VB converter.

It's doable, I can give it a try in Javascript if and when I have some time ;)

Fred, anything to take into consideration regarding writing VB configs?
What scenario parameters are needed?
