Refueling outage - day 8... It's my off day so I got to sleep late (woke up at 6:55 am, that's 2 hours later than normal).

Got a whole lot accomplished yesterday, and one of the high pressure throttle valves is back in and we were "core empty". But today I'm missing the guys replacing the turbine on one of our main feed pumps (kinda wanted to see that). They should be well into the reactor internals inpections by now.

Still 22 (scheduled) days to go.

Refueling? Turbines? Reactor internals? What the hell do you do for a living?

I was about to say "Nuclear Power Plant" as a joke. Dere be some smart people on this forum.

Also, on the topic of Space Games, anyone played Star Ruler? It's one of my favorites; granted it's management rather than piloting, anyways, the soundtrack is really something.

"The End of it all" and "A sheet of metal between flesh and nothing" are my favorites; might consider downloading them from the musician's website(only 1$) and adding them to orbitersound.

Disclaimer: Inspired lunacy in this post.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another entry on the list of How To Make People LOOK At You.

This one is ideally executed in an apartment complex; especially one where you have balconies overlooking a decently populated common area such as a veranda or park, or a heavily-trafficked parking lot. A sedentary neighborhood with nosy neighbors is a plus.

What you need:

* A balcony of your own.

* An iron constitution.

* And a costume VERY closely resembling this:

The-cowardly-lion-the-wizard-of-oz-4109278-550-412.jpg

The procedure:

1. Don costume.

2. Open balcony door. Step out onto balcony.

3. Sing -- as dramatically, and as loudly -- as possible. In your best baritone. "If I . . . were kinnnnngggggggggggg . . . of the FORESTTTTTTTTTT . . ."

4. Stop talking abruptly. Stand stock-still, and give your audience a confused, and perplexed look. Let the beat last no longer than a second at most.

5. Turn around, go back inside, and slam the balcony door shut.

6. Let them figure it out. Hey. It's probably none of your concern . . . in fact, you probably don't want anything to do with any weirdos like that . . .

:tiphat:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Nothing like a broken link to kill a joke like that. Picture the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz if you like. At least somebody got a chuckle out of that, hey? :)

Oh god...I wish I had a PS3.

Nathan Drake: Yeah. You just count to five and pull the cord. How hard could that be?

[looks out plane door]

Nathan Drake: Oh crap.

[jumps off and pulls parachute cord]

Nathan Drake: AHHHHHH! Onetwothreefourfive!

I get that a lot... But seriously, sometimes I think that the nuclear industry is more in line with the Marx Brothers than the Simpsons.

Then don't join the IT industry. Its more in line with Monty Python.

True but it also has a lot of benny hill when things are required in a rush.

And on some months near the end of the year, it is like a Bud Spencer & Terence Hill movie. Like this one.

But well, the good thing and reward for me this week, my new T-shirts arrived, including the "Flowing Rainbow" shirt...

On my first week of college, I went through a kind of short identity crisis when a fellow student told me I was bad at math because I asked lots of stupid questions. I made an 82 on the first exam; certainly lower than I wanted, but I'm certain the next one will be easier because the entire class struggled tremendously. He made a 52.
