...(as Ripley said) the Universal Repair Method...

Might have been me ;)

Glad you got it sorted!
Some time ago we lent our old router to a friend: we believed it had some kind of defect, since after a couple of years of service it wouldn't hold a steady connection, but indeed rebooting it after having kept it stored did the trick, apparently.

"Life can't exist if x" is one of the biggest sampling errors space exploration has to overcome.

Until now life is only known to exist on the third-nearest planet to the sun which has a diameter of 12,700 kilometer, has one moon and rotates in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds.

Which is quite common.:shifty:

And perhaps near impossible to find at the moment with our technical abilities...

And life could theoretically survive in conditions wildly different from Earth. In fact, I was reading that there is some anecdotal evidence to support the existence of microbial type of life on Titan. I can post that if you want.

Just think, if Titan analogues are the most common habitat for life in the universe, just how widespread might it be?

Oh well.
Random topic turn Thursday.
Here is a carnivorous Santa Claus for you:

I officially declare war on 16:9 wallpapers.
I still believe that 16:10 should be the most commonly used aspect ratio.

Somewhen in 2008 I stopped liking new stuff, or new stuff stopped becoming interesting.

Дед мороз, indeed!
("dead, morose" if I still understand correctly.)
Nice, never noticed that. :)
And apparently die, die, die! means give, give, give!

Nah, all that is thinking too small.
How about Globus Cassus?
Globus Cassus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just rebuild the planet into something Jupiter-sized, with a lot of living space.

I love this kind of things. Althoug I'd prefer leaving Earth as it is and move to a Ringworld (in my opinion, it's better than a Dyson Sphere if used cautiously).

Wow.

From Avweb.com:
Los Angeles World Airports has confirmed an unusual incident of aircraft vandalism at Van Nuys Airport earlier this week. A Learjet was tagged with some elaborate graffiti, which would have taken the "artist" some time to complete. Paint work to obliterate the freedom of expression (which includes what may be the tagger's signature) will cost in the tens of thousands of dollars and there will undoubtedly be a thorough inspection of the rest of the plane. What's not clear is how the spray-can wielding perpetrator penetrated the defenses of one of the U.S.'s busiest business aviation airports. Diana Sanchez, public and community relations director for the airport organization told AVweb they're looking into it.

Sanchez issued the following statement in response to a query from AVweb. “Los Angeles World Airports takes very seriously any and all issues of airport security in order to provide a safe and secure environment for our Van Nuys Airport tenants. An aircraft positioned on a privately leased ramp near the Sherman Way tunnel was vandalized. We are working with the affected tenant to prevent future incidents in this location, and we continue with our standing practice of reminding all tenants on the field about the importance of security.

"This particular investigation is ongoing, and Los Angeles World Airports Police is working in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

The name of the owner of the plane was not released.

Looks nice. I'd keep it!

They should be glad it was a sprayer pointing out their security flaws, not a saboteur :shifty:

In other news, a friend of mine stumbled over a large field of Marihuana in the bosnian outback while leading his goats to a pasture. For now the whole area is blocked for trafick.

In Göttingen, an urban guerilla group has sowed low-THC Cannabis plants all over the city, even in front of the police station, despite all sorts of cannabis being now illegal in Germany. The green party, that is promoting legalizing cannabis now called for a photo contest of the plants.

Heh, that was just about the other way around for me and my wife. In the end I had to use the conversational equivalent of clubing her on the head and draging her to my cave...

Sounds like a legit and classic solution, that survived the test of time.

My wallet is simultaneously loving and hating the Steam Summer Sales.
I caught the flash sale including Skyrim with 10 minutes to spare. :P

Hey, I said conversational equivalent!

God knows I am not exactly the right build to pull of the real deal. Especially not on her who was running half-marathons and playing league volleyball at the time...

Some talk about inventions that would help non-bodybuilders accomplishing this job. Something called block and tackle, hand truck or car.

Although I'm not sure if these modern inventions catch on.
