Man, where's the dislike button around here?

Star Wars: watch episodes IV, V, and VI, in the original, pre-specialized editions. Find a VHS copy if you must.

Agreed. Maybe the 1997(?) theatrical rerelease for IV.

The latest films, made by JJ Abrams are horrible caricatures of Star Trek, watching them is like watching a Trek parody skit on Saturday Night Live or something. If you liked ST4 you might like them, though.

THANK YOU. Someone put it into better words than I did. And after the latest trailer for ST:Beyond, I'm even more convinced of this point.

But that's the "special edition," too.

I had said on the "New Star Wars Movies confirmed" thread that I had a desire to watch the "despecialized editions," because I wanted to appreciate the "purist" point of view. But I wasn't able to obtain them. Maybe sometime else I'll see it.

Well, for the plus side of the rerelease in '97, all they did was add in a digital Jabba the Hut in IV, put CGI ships into a few scenes, and generally cleaned up the effects. No significant changes, but they did add some new creatures to Jabba's palace in VI that really didn't need to be added.
Downside is the singer in Jabba's palace... and I think that's about it. That's before they added new Anakin in the final scene of VI, by the way.

Actually, I have DVD copies of the special editions, and they have as a bonus feature the original theatrical versions of the films. Unfortunately, they are not super high quality copies, but at least they show the story in its original form.

The worst thing is that we all know HAN SHOT FIRST, LUCAS!

Honestly, I don't hate all the stuff Lucas did to the original trilogy, some of the enhancements were cool and tasteful. But that one scene changes Han Solo's character.

If Lucas had just released the original versions on Blu-ray along with the special versions I think the fans would've been cool with it.

I know about that, and we had those DVDs, too. I'm not sure where they are anymore though (we still have the 2004 special edition, and had rewatched it recently because the last time my parents had seen it was several years ago), and imo it's not worth it if the picture quality is horrible (I tried watching one when I was younger).

Indeed. I've seen a video comparing the original and special editions for the battle at the end of "A New Hope", originally known as "Star Wars"; the ships' movements feel much more natural in the SE.

Oh, how I envy you... Exams starts the second week of January for me, while classes still happen, and teachers give out tests anyway.
So yeah, I might as well enjoy those holidays, as I'm not even sure I'll make it out of January alive ...

Ah, thats rough. I had that once with a difficult physics project in high school that stretched straight through the Christmas break into January. It was not a fun time. I hope its still a good break for you though

According to an old legend, Twardowski was a nobleman (szlachcic) who lived in Kraków in the 16th century. He sold his soul to the devil in exchange for great knowledge and magical powers. However, Twardowski wanted to outwit the devil by including a special clause in the contract, stating that the devil could only take Twardowski's soul to Hell during his visit to Rome – a place the sorcerer never intended to go.[1] Other variants of the story have Twardowski being sold to the devil as a child by his father.

With the devil's aid, Twardowski quickly rose to wealth and fame, eventually becoming a courtier of King Sigismund Augustus, who sought consolation in magic and astrology after the death of his beloved wife, Barbara Radziwiłł.[3] He was said to have summoned the ghost of the late queen to comfort the grieving king, using a magic mirror.[3] The sorcerer also wrote two books, both dictated to him by the devil – a book on magic and an encyclopedia.

After years of evading his fate, Twardowski was eventually tricked by the devil and caught not in the city, but at an inn called Rzym (Rome in Polish).[1] While being spirited away, Twardowski started to pray to the Virgin Mary, who made the devil drop his victim midway to Hell.[1] Twardowski fell on the Moon where he lives to this day.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, the 21st century version:

HD, please turn on English subtitles.

That would make a really nice add-on, no? :)

The final show of Stefan Raab is over ... Hard to believe that it was again running for almost 6 hours. Well, he promised to retire from TV before he turns 50, he did so with 49. Much better decision in comparison to many others. Much more unbelievable was his rendition of "One Moment In Time" at the end, which many wannabe stars in casting shows often fail so epically because it is really a song with a very high difficulty for the vocals - even if its a :censored: ballad.

Now the question is: Who will eventually come to fill the gap in a time, when every "expert" predicts that the time over the great Saturday evening game shows are over and everything has to be made internet grade and suitable for streaming? Some how I feel like who predicts this has not seen yet millions of people joining the social media channels talking about a single life stream - or does not want to see that.
