Ok, they're bringing Han back as a force ghost. "But he wasn't a Jedi!" No, but the force was strong with him.
  • He was able to use Chewie's bowcaster to great effect. A very difficult weapon to master like the lightsaber especially for a human. Lightsaber combat could be mastered with brute force and computer-enhanced reflexes like General Grevious, just as the extreme strength of a Wookiee can master the bowcaster.
  • He fired a shot that hit a stormtrooper without looking basically like the Jedi did when deflecting shots.

*note: this is speculation, and it all depends on Harrison Ford agreeing to come back of course.

I can't see that happening.

And to be honest, as much as I love the character of Han Solo, and as much as I have loved Ford as an actor over the years, I am kind of glad he is done with Star Wars. He doesn't seem to have his heart in acting anymore and his portrayal of Han in TFA is not really the old, wily pirate captain I was hoping for. He did just good enough.

I hope Ren doesn't "turn good" or something. That always bothered me about Darth Vader. You don't get to massacre entire planets and then suddenly become a good guy in the last five minutes of your life, not without answering for it. You're pretty much committed by then, like it or not.

I really wished the made the characters more morally grey... Because the bad guys are trying to be evil so bad theyre defying basic logic.

As I said before, Ford lobbied for Han to die in RotJ, so it is very likely that his death in AFW was driven by Ford either only agreeing to sign for one movie, or by him explicitly lobbying for a death scene.

Of course, if this is the case and he changes his mind, Episode 8 may be "The Search for Solo". :leaving:

He's a pawn of the creepy holo guy Goldemort or whatever his name is

His name is Snoke, as far as I remember. I dubbed him Goldemort because the first thing I was thinking about when seeing him was Gollum, the second Voldemort.

The family and I finally saw it. Its a good Star Wars movie that I enjoyed.

Some thoughts:

This is a transitional movie that is intended to bridge the original trilogy with future franchise movies. I think that's why there are so many plot points from 4,5 and 6. This does get annoying, but I think a lot of that is intentional to reset the story arc with new characters.

Luke, Han and Leia need to be moved out of the story. Mission accomplished for Han, he is not coming back. The next movie or two will move Luke and Leia out of the story as well. How this is done we will have to wait and see, but I suspect Leia will be faced with a dilemma; My son, or the rebellion.

I like the new trio of Po, Fin and Rey, I'm looking forward to see how they develop, but the old guard needs to exit stage left.

This greatly diminish the effectiveness of the entire narration (i mean the entire story from the Episode I). We lost the epic.

Reboots are strong with the Dark Side of the Force.

Well, he is played by the same actor who did Gollum, so that probably isn't helping...

Yeah, just noticed that Howard Taylor summed up my feelings about the film pretty nicely:

I think that you'll have plenty of time to change your mind...

His portrayal is simply unrealistic: who is totally equal to itself after thirty years, a son and a failed marriage? But isn't Harrison Ford fault: is the writing that is bad. Surely, Ford has put ability but not heart in his interpretation. After all, Han Solo isn't a character particularly dear to him.

Of course it is. But if they'd put Decker in the movie instead of Solo, everybody would have hated them

Actually, Deckard in Star Wars would be kind of cool...

But then again, I think Jack Ryan in Star War would be cool, too.

Indiana Jones would have been much more useful in finding Luke Skywalker.

Sorry, can't get my names straight. I was of course talking about him, seeing as we're essentially talking about Harrison Ford:
