Your cat keeps quite a zoo.

Yeah, its a bit annoying. Sadly its impossible to teach him to not bring the catch home, and sadly we are not able to close "the door" (We have a rubble masonry basement, which is quite wet and requires permanent ventilation )

State of the mouse nation after 9 days: They have opened their eyes and started exploring the box:
IMG-20210907-WA0007.jpg

All five seem to be healthy and active, so the next days will be about preparing them for their first days in the wilderness. Two weeks in captivity is a lot of time to get used to humans, and they better don't do that. Humans are evil.

I passed my C+E test, I'm now able to drive Artics on the road now. An hour of having some one watch you drive is bad, when that person can fail you for one marginal decision is stressful.
Time to go looking for a decent job now.

Yeah, luckily my old B licence test was easy and done in 20 minutes (not counting 5 minutes on an empty Autobahn).

I was male, white and when I was about to screw things up terribly, I pretended successfully that all is under control and I am just retrying to make things perfect.

Having discovered slow and comfortable driving. So I can drive 100 Km more per tank content (700 Km instead of 600 before), and in turn I get about 50 Euro more a month. Also, I arrive more relaxed at work and back home after work. But the fuel use is still decreasing as shown on the display.

Increasing your "fuel level" only works with BEV. But yes, driving merely 120 km/h maximum on the Autobahn is a HUGE difference in fuel consumption, when having 150 km/h for comparison....

Well, in my case it‘s 90-100 Km/h to previously 180 Km/h. Huge dfference indeed. I went from 180 Euro to 130 Euro per month, or from 3 tank contents down to a little bit more than 2. The computed range is pretty accurate.

Yeah, thats the big advantage there. I really hope to get the conditions for a BEV soon, right now I lack the option to charge them at home. But maybe I go two wheeled instead.

Two wheeled electric? I've been considering one myself, I've seen some nice models, besides the classical e-bikes. And since I still plan on switching to motorbike, it may as well be an electric one at first. At least for the pure two-wheeled stuff, in France I'd need an A permit, but there are three-wheeled scooters ( two front wheels) that can be driven with the B. Of course, there are also those chopper trikes that can be driven with the B, but somehow I doubt they have electric versions ?

In a shocking twist, the abysmal Netflix show "another life" apparently got a second season, since a second season just popped up in my list. For general reference of the quality of the show, imagine the ST: Voyager episode "Threshold", and then basically an entire series at that level of writing. Except all the characters suck too, because they were designed by the same stooges that wrote the script.
It wouldn't be so baffling if they wouldn't have cancelled perfectly good shows like sense8.

Seriously, Netflix, you're one hell of a software company, but sometimes I can't help but think that where your core business is concerned, you have no idea what you're doing...

Well, the current last season of "Sex Education" was much too short for our taste here, but there is lots of "Money Heist" left to be watched and a new season of "Ragnarok" about to come...

I just think there are some many people who love trash too much.

There's different kinds of trash: Trash all around, and proud of it, which can be fun (Hello there, Sharknado...). There's brilliant trash with awful production values but clever writing and lots of love, often turning low production budget into a virtue, which is almost always fun to watch (Ion Tyche is probably my favourite of these). And then there's presumptuous trash, that doesn't look like trash because it's got a budget, and doesn't know it's trash because the writers have the self-reflection of a black-body. And there's just never anything enjoyable in that... And that show definitely is that. here's shows that go between these and are occasionally even good, of course, but this one... It was the last thing I ever expected to see a second season off (see as in learning that there was a second season. I'm certainly not watching it!)

Yeah, the rather low-budget look of Ion Tichy also allowed a lot of fun beyond the story. :D

1 megaton tnt = 4.2 petajoules, therefore:

1 tnt = 4.6 MJ/kg = 4.6 km^2/s^2

root-tnt = sqrt(tnt) = 2.1 km/s

1 root-tnt-second = 2.1 km

1 km/root-tnt = .47 s

radius of Earth = 3000 root-tnt-seconds

1 AU = 2.2 root-tnt-years

Solar orbital velocity at 1 AU ~= 14 roots-tnt

Frequency of AC current in the US: 28 roots-tnt/km

2010 Prius combined EPA gas milage = 50 mpg = 98 square megahertz per tnt

I no longer remember watching something other than thrillers and horrors of my own free will
By the way, soon in the west of Halloween, my girlfriend grew up not far from the Kola superdeep well and strange events took place there ?

And just like that, you ended up on a watchlist for stating the mileage of a Prius! ?‍♂️
Actually the energy content of TNT and gasoline aren't that different (though gasoline cheats by using oxidizer present in the environment).

Gas milage makes for some fun dimensional analysis anyways. It's an inverse area (miles/gallon -> length/length^3), so "traditionally" the simplest way to state it would be in square kilodiopters.

Interestingly, the inverse area actually has a physical interpretation: if you draw out the volume of fuel you burn in a trip into a tube whose length equals the trip distance, the cross sectional area of the tube is your gallons/mile fuel efficiency. Flip that to miles per gallon, and you've got your square diopter figure, which is how many of those cross sections will fit in a square meter.
