The bottom line is that the middle lobe on the right side had to be removed because of the bronchial tube did not heal properly. That lobe was infected, and since the bronchial tube was completely "walled off" (due to the way it healed), there was no way to cough up germs. The doctor said it would have likely infected the rest of the lung and possibly the other side as well. The good news is that the middle lobe is the smallest, so in terms of lung function, he said I won't lose much. And it wasn't working anyway because it was walled off.
