Great screenshot! How did you add the Aurora Borealis to your picture?
B.t.w. I assume they will launch due South from the Cape, but need to avoid the first stage drops on a South American country, in case the retroburn fails.

Polaris Dawn launch 10 Sept.2024

Here's another launch scenario for 10 Sept 2024, launch window opens at 07:38 UTC
Scenario starts at 07:30, in Crew Dragon 2022 folder, updated ISS vectors etc.
Weather not looking too hopeful, though.
Cheers,
Brian

Polaris Dawn is in orbit! Does anyone knows the timeline for apogee raising?

Some info on Wikipedia.....
Look in the "MIssion" section.
It sounds like they do the Apogee raise on first or second orbit, stay there for 10 hours (6 orbits?), then reduce Apogee to "Cruising" altitude 750km.
Cheers,
Brian

I'm trying to load the scenario, but I keep getting the following error:

DM2/dm2_capsule_polaris
[Vessel::OpenConfigFile | .\Vessel.cpp | 243]

Which folder has this vessel config? I can't seem to find it in any of the posts above.

SpaceX restores Crew Dragon's abandoned capability of landing propulsively in an emergency:

Maybe a word on the Orbiter 2024 compatibility:
In Orbiter 2024 the ProjectAlpha_ISS mesh was moved into the subfolder Meshes/ISS.
But the Crew Dragon scenarios look for it in the old location (directly in the Meshes folder).

Workaround:
Install the attached mesh, which is just a copy of the ProjectAlpha_ISS mesh in the Meshes folder.
After that, the Crew Dragon scenarios work fine, including MFD, auto-deorbit, etc.
____
Other observations:
  • As expected, the old OrbiterSound callouts do not work anymore. (Soundbridge is no help.)
  • The unburnt heat shield looks more shiny than in 2016, but this could be due to render settings.
