Hi,
not sure really. It's too sunny outside to do much Orbiting. This being the UK, it will be cold and grey soon enough, work rate will increase. I have a couple of other projects I'd like to get into as well, so maybe a couple of months before I start. Probably.
Cheers,
Brian

A rough scenario that allows you to launch a FH from SpaceX's South Texas site.
The boosters have some trouble landing because the land is not completely flat ;)
But it's a nice change of scenery and an perhaps a starting point for the BFR

Too bad we're probably never going to see a FH launch from there -- I do wonder though if we'll get a FH from SLC-4E though. I'd imagine that would require a significant upgrade to the pad and SLC-4E is pretty busy these days.

Hello, BrianJ.

I understand that last September, you were unable to update the Falcon Heavy addon because of other projects. However, the launch of Arabsat 6A is coming up next week, and the rocket will use the Block 5 technology. When will you have the time to update the addon?

Thank you.

Hi,
well I finally got around to updating some of the simple stuff (pads, meshes, textures, etc. - awaiting photos of static fire) and working on booster reentry guidance. Thrust updates will be later - not really sure what I should be updating that to, need a think about it. And do we know if there will ever be any fairing recovery operations for Falcon Heavy? Anyway, hopefully will have an update before Arabsat goes up :)
Cheers,
Brian

P.S. If Arabsat6A is ~6000kg, Falcon Heavy is massively overpowered for this payload anyway.

Fairing recovery operations are planned for FH, but won't be until STP-2.

Update 190407 on OH:

Various mesh and texture changes.
Supports up to 20 payloads, payload attach point pos/dir/rot configurable from .cfg.
Added recoverable fairings and FRV vessel, non-recoverable fairing option in .cfg file.
Charred/used look booster skin configurable from .cfg file.
Changed booster pitch RCS positions.
Launch pads inc.water deluge, added Crew Access Arm(LC39A).
LZ landing pads invisible mesh option.
etc.

Still to do - upgrade thust/mass specs, improve reentry and landing algorithms.

@Kyle - I had to re-map the 1st stage textures, you may want to re-do yours. Sorry!

Cheers,
Brian

So I have been asked about the Orion being launched with the FAlcon Hvy.

I was able to kinda get it loaded. But not sure how to edit the cfg for Nofairing.

Amend the .cfg to

Code:
;Dragon = 2
NoFairing
;NoFairRecovery = 1
; Adaptor = FalconHeavy/star48bv_adaptor
;Expendable = 2
;CntrUsed = 1
;PortUsed = 1
;StbdUsed = 1

Hi,
you need to add the "NoFairing" line to your FalconHeavy .cfg file (not the launchpad .cfg file).

From your scenario, that is Config/Vessels/FalconHeavy/f9h.cfg .

Cheers,
Brian

BrianJ, do you have an estimate when the other updates will be complete?

Thanks.
I think the traditional answer is "Tuesday" ;-)
Depends how much time I have and how much progress I make, really.
Cheers,
Brian

Hi John,
my bad! Should be:
NoFairing = 1

That should fix it.
Cheers,
Brian

Yes that fix it.
But I guess MS2015 allows 1 set of Fairings. So is there a way to change the fairing on the FH?

Not really. You could:
1) Make the support structure for ICPS as a passive adaptor and add it to the FalconHeavy upper stage (see your FalconHeavy .cfg file).
2) Make it as (one or more) payloads that can be jettisoned manually from FalconHeavy in flight.
3) May be possible to make it as an "Interstage" in your MS2015 ICPS vessel, manual jettison from ICPS I guess.
