Yes that fix it.
But I guess MS2015 allows 1 set of Fairings. So is there a way to change the fairing on the FH?

Block5 or Not-Block5?

Hi,
so I'm just getting into some serious work on the thrust/functionality updates and I'm wondering just what specs I should be updating to.

The thrust is already at the level given by the SpaceX website, and Spaceflight101.com gives these same figures for the Merlin M1D+ engine specifically. SpaceflightNow concurs.

So, do I assume SpaceX/Spaceflight101/SpaceflightNow are all giving outdated info? (possible). Or are they correct and the add-on was actually overpowered for the first (non-Block5) flight? Anyone have an opinion?

Interestingly, I can get a pretty good match for real stage burn times by increasing the throttle-down at MaxQ, and by changing the booster/core throttle differential. Performance dosen't seem to suffer (more gravity losses but less MaxQ I guess).

Anyway, I need to have a good look at the Arabsat launch video and get some numbers.

Spaceflight101 and SpaceFlightNow are both probably using the specs listed on SpaceX's Merlin M1D+ engine page. Whether-or-not SpaceX's website is accurate I am unsure of but I am betting they are accurate (that info needs to be accurate for the potential customer).

thanks for the input, I tend to agree. I think I'll go with the current SpaceX website rating until told different or if it doesn't stack up against the numbers from the Arabsat-6A flight.

since OH seems to be inaccessible for me at the moment, I thought I'd share my STP-2 mission set-up and updated FalconHeavy module, via GoogleDrive.

22 sats due for launch on FalconHeavy STP-2 mission.
(Simple cube meshes and .cfg's) Launch scenario for 25 June 2019 in STP2 folder. OCISLY pos from FCC app. Info in /Doc/STP2.

New .dll module for FalconHeavy.
New ascent autopilot roll-out and throttle sequence, fuel reserve estimate, upper stage payload illumination, up to 100 payload attachments.

New Orbit Insertion Altitude parameter - Upper stage will aim to achieve final orbit insertion at this altitude. Must be >= PeA, and <= ApA.

Note: The throttle sequence is better, burn times comparable to previous flight. Overall performance is affected more for higher/lofted flight profiles.
63800kg to 200km orbit is still possible (just) if upperstage uses 2-burn profile (160x200 -> 200x200km).
Orbit insertion is most efficient at Periapsis, but now possible anywhere between PeA and ApA.

WARNING!
This WILL overwrite your /Modules/FalconHeavy/f9h.dll and /Modules/FalconHeavy/f9h_double.dll
ASDS Position Estimates no longer reliable!
Old saved scenarios may not transfer correct parameters to FalconHeavy!

That figures. I wonder if they do that on the centre core as well - I'm finding I need to throttle the core right back to ~40% from MaxQ to Booster separation on the add-on, just to get near the burn times seen on the last two missions. I put the throttle levels on the HUD with the latest FH .dll, so you can see what the ascent autopilot is doing. The throttle sequence seems to have worked out pretty close to the what the "Flight Club" guy on Reddit worked out, which I take to be a hopeful sign.

For STP2, I increased the target orbit to 300 x 860km, core apogee 150km. It seems to be pretty close to what I see on the launch video.

I'm just tinkering with the booster reentry burn start-time calculations at the moment (it gets confused if there is too much fuel). I just thought of a different way to do it, so I'm going to try that and see how it goes.

2022 may bring 3 FalconHeavy launches. I think it is time to revisit this old favorite.

1. The autopilot is absolute fantastic, but it goes haywire if stage separation happens at 10x time acceleration.
I'd suggest to reset time acceleration at the staging event by including the line:
oapiSetTimeAcceleration(1);

2. Would you consider to use the improved exhaust textures of the Falcon9 for the FalconHeavy as well?
The new textures look so much nicer. :)

For me, I can go from the pad to orbit at 10x time acceleration without issue.
(That might have something to do with the fact that I get about 700+ fps… Nvidia RTX 2060.) :cool:
I would suggest making this a .cfg option

One other idea, could we get the flyback fairings suggested lat/lon displayed in the control dialog box like on F9? Very helpful for placing the FRV ship.

can do exhaust textures, time accel limit and grid fins - not too much work! ;-)

FRV estimated position is a lot more work (have to measure fairing impact point for combinations of apogee and payload mass, then find a curve that fits!) - so, mmmm, maybe sometime.

EDIT - Oh, wait a minute! Didn't I already put the FRV est.pos. in there?? It's on my FH control panel anyway .

Given the extra velocity of fairings for FH, will SpaceX actually try fairing recovery??

Swapped exhaust texture Marg/francisdrake's F9 textures
Added .cfg file option to set time-acceleration to 1 at staging events
