White - Heats up slow, cools down slow.
Black - Heats up fast, cools down fast.

Yeah. It's all about albedo and emissivity; the higher your albedo, the lower your emissivity. A high albedo means it's a good reflector, but that also means it's a poor radiator...

well as i can see you project have two issues
1.To start engine its easy as usual, but to kill it i need to go to Scenario Editor and empty all fuel in order to kill the engines is thrust, then fill up again.
2.With the engine sequence i cant made to orbiter,i made it by using rocket engine and turbine at start, then i climbed and gathered some speed, and i started the ramcaster engine.
Also ,there isnt any light in the cockpit,so its hard to see the gauges and buttons at night

I know its just a Work in Progress release ,but i am just giving some ideas to turn it better
Also there is a CTD when you activate in ground Turbine w/ afterburner ,Rocket motor and RAMCASTER at high

yeah, well... thats WIP-1 for ya

those things are all fixed now (too many thread pages since then, i guess)

WIP-2 should be a lot less likely to CTD under the conditions you mentioned... it also has a nice gauge that guides your ascent profile (it is possible to make it to orbit with WIP-1, but it's not like blasting off in the DG)

the cockpit is now properly lit, so you can read everything around regardless of external lighting conditions...

WIP-1 did have a bug where the engines could not be effectively shut down... this is fixed in WIP-2, you need just flip the switches back to "cut"

i've been experimenting with time-optimized trips to the ISS... depending on your skills to launch and rendezvous, it IS conceivably possible to achieve hard-dock before the first full orbit
but it's damn hard... and probably not the best way to save up on fuel usage

well, i'm almost ready to call it WIP-2 by now...
new features also include an opening bay (B key for now... overhead panel doesn't quite work yet), and a functional docking port inside...

i still have not gotten around implementing the RCS doors for the trusters that need them, (forward-lin and lower banking vents)... those are directed too hard against the airstream, so they should be shielded for atm flight...

the rest of them should be fine, i guess...

i was meaning to add a few attachment points before WIP-2, so you could actually ferry up some hardware in that bay..... but perhaps that would delay the release more than our patience would allow :hmm:

so cargo stuff should be for WIP-3...

just a few more things... i'll see if i can get something uploaded within a week or so (which now, for reasons i'll not bore you with, depends highly on my skills to weld an USB cable back together )

thats only realistic if its a military craft:

red is harder to see over a distance, so provides just enough light for the pilot to see his instruments

there are studies on that subject... red also keeps pilots alert, more than blue, for instance, which over a long stretch might cause them to become too relaxed...

green is right in the middle of the human-visible light spectrum, so it's by far the most comfortable color to read and identify symbols when opposed to a black background...

the G42's internal lighting is mostly LED-based, for that offers low power consumption and a comfortable eyesight environment...

either way, there are several types of cockpit lighting setups which will be asimulated in some future release... see all those buttons on the overhead panel? - i have actually planned them to work, to a viable extent in Orbiter, at least ;)

YAY! ancillary control for everyone!

those little things make any vessel seem more in-depth, and i dont think any craft is complete without them (and Easter eggs!)

The main reason for red lighting is, that it doesn't affect the night adaptation of the human eye. So the pilot/crew still can recognize objects in the dark.

makes sense i suppose, so it wont realy be necessary in a spacecraft, where the only time you would look outside is in daylight... where "night vision" isnt a problem

So my electric bill will be cheaper? What else can Orbiter Add-ons do?

Nope. since LED ligths have low consuption ,The battery inside the ship will use less energy,so you have more battery power for other thinks like MFD,Radio (like DGIV-2)having the dg-iv with all functions enabled isnt a problem but it turns a problem when you use it for a long time like in travels for moon and other planets. Then you need to shutdown the APU for a while and put ship in safe mode,if u keep it enabled the battery will run out of energy and shutdown and you coundn't even control the engines.

I am loving you idea, but when i said about adding ligths it wasnt to do a complex ligth model, just some ilumination when you are in orbit in the earth is dark side, this could be fixed too if you add a 2D panel

:eek:rlyflag: :yarly!:

at the risk of tooting my own horn:

4 hours, 15 mins :woohoo: my new personal record for quickest KSC → ISS flight time (with oodles of cheat-free fuel to spare, both on the mains as on the RCS)

the ship, our very own G42-200 :salute:

but right now i'm more proud to say, WIP-2 is coming up.... eicas panels are good (for now) ACS are animated, seat-belts are installed, cockpit is lit, plus a number of other stuff...

if you guys don't mind the absence of animated flip-up Z-neg RCS units, i can just upload now and call WIP-2 a go...
