I can't believe it i really did it. my first complete mission is done.

On a beautiful Thursday morning, mission commander and pilot Oceanic, and mission specialist Mia Roberts took of off in the Athena DG-IV from Wideawake International.

Payload MTKS-SAT
Total Vessel Mass: 23t
Engine MK-IV

Mission Goals:

#1 Deploy the MTKS-SAT in a "250km pea 250km apo Inc 50°" orbit

#2 rendezvous with the ISS

#3 transfer mission specials Mia Roberts to the ISS

#4 take necessary equipment to MIR ;)

#5 deorbit and land at Wideawake International

----------------------------------------------

total vessel mass at touchdown: 12701kg
remaining Main Fuel: 5% 480kg
remaining RCS Fuel: 2,5% 15kg
mission time ~3 days 6 hours

-----------------------------------------------

i am so proud, this was my second successful reentry and my first successful unpowered landing. i had to try the landing tree times till i managed to put the DG-IV down without destroying the gear. after the reentry i was directly over Wideawake and my altitude was 10km. i made my turn a little to fast and i was about 300m away from the runway but still way to fast and way to high.
but i learned to to take my time with the landing and still managed to land softly without using the engines after the deorbit burn.

as i'm writing this, the Athena DG-IV is getting refueled, for the next mission, taking 4 astronauts to the ISS and installing the DG-Inflatable Rescue Module.

here some snapshots (1440x900) from the mission:

Congrats man!
I've had problems with un-powered landings. Directly over the runway and 5km up is NOT a good position to be in.

Good luck on your next mission!

I've been away from Orbiter for some time, but how on Earth did you get the mountains in there?
