Ship names are not allowed to have spaces in them. This is a limitation of Orbiter.

Does your ship name that crashes have any spaces in it?

Dantassii
HUMONGOUS IMS shipbuilder

It is called 'Mir2', alas. Space in name would have been too easy. And it worked on my computer, remember?

Overworked and sick here at the moment. Problem sounds rather weird, without some kind of repro there isn't much I can do about it. While there are reasons why too long names can cause a crash, there's absolutely no sense in short names causing one...

I would ask you not to worry about it until you're in good health. This project demands too much of it anyway :)

Consumables bug consumes the gameplay. Sadly, but it wasn't fixed with RC6 at all.

I am also having the same problem as reported above: CTD after SQL right after the first frame, no useful info in Orbiter.log. Changing vessel's name doesn't help.

In one particular scenario, or just all of a sudden?

In one particular scenario all of a sudden. I recreated a scenario (which was working before) step by step and it started to crash on load. I have the feeling that if I try to recreate it again it will not crash. Will check this later today.

---------- Post added at 20:57 ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 ----------

Sadly, it's still crashing. The same scenario was working some tme ago. I'm sure it will work on your machine, but maybe I missed something. If you want try it, here it is:

http://yadi.sk/d/pR3u392SCAFMb

On my machine it's crashing at the first frame. I.e. if you start paused the crash occurs only when pause is off.

IMS is a great concept and I have tried it. Trouble is, I don't have much time these days to put together my own things.

What would people think of starting a repository to share their successful designs?

Ok, I think I figured out why I get the IMS.dll crashes when I try to reload. For some reason when I exit a scenario and then save it, not everything saves for the IMS vessel. Here is an example:

This is the vessel loaded from the IMS folder finalized:

Its missing everything under consumables, anybody know how to fix this?

The Food is also resetting to zero every time I reload so I keep having to load it up again through scenario editor.

I'll check it out as soon as the current Hiatus is over... I had to take my mind of of things this month, on account of last month being very taxing on me. So currently, I'm spending my free time with completely unrelated stuff that interested me for a while. I'll get back to the bugfixing next month or so.

Haven't played Orbiter in a while; did a clean install, salivated over what dansteph completed while I was gone; but anyway...

I've installed this addon, as well as SSBB and spacecraft 3; however, I cannot find the command module or the SSBB folder within the scenario editor; only habitat modules, trusses, etc. The completed vessel folder is also empty, though I'm not sure that it's not supposed to. Anyway, any advice on how to fix this would be very appreciated; in the meantime, I'm going to go enjoy UCGO 2.5...have a great day!

If you have installed IMS corretly, command modules can be found within Scenario Editor inside IMS\Command_Modules folder. If there's no such folder because of some weird reason, you can download Ultimate IMS Config Pack available by the link in my signature.

spacecraft3 isn't needed for IMS, we only use Greg's meshes, config files are completely rewritten for IMS.

Completed vessels folder should be empty until you have finalised some of your IMS vessels.

I've installed this addon, as well as SSBB and spacecraft 3;

You don't require Spacecraft 3, and that you have the impression that you do tells me something about the root misunderstanding here. Yes, IMS uses SSBB meshes. But NOT the configs, or god forbid the inis. IMS has its own configs. They are located in the config/vessels/IMS/[appropriate-module-type-subfolder] folder.

You cannot use IMS with the default configs that come with SSBB.

Ahh, makes sense; it did seem somewhat odd. Okay, I'll forget spacecraft 3 and do a clean install...I want to try DX11 orbiter anyway. Thanks for the quick response and all your hard work!

Thanks, I'll try that if the clean install doesn't work.

Note that IMS is completely untested with the current orbiter beta and might not run at all! Even if it runs, I will give no guarantees that it works as intended. (well, so far it doesn't quite work as intended not even on 2010P1... erm...)

And only if you download the patched version of DX9...

DX9 client and DX11 client are pretty different horses, and I wouldn't neccessarily expect this particular bug to be present in DX11 client (and the patch for DX9 certainly won't fix DX11). The problem is more that DX11 client only runs with Orbiter Beta, and that might cause problems galore...

I found a bug

it's not that big it just has to do with the bmp file names in the config line some of the names in the configs are wrong (prb a typo or miscommunication) but it is a simple fix and i thought i would let you know about it.

It's been a long while...

I wish I could say it was worth the wait, but the current patch took about 10 minutes of looking at the code and about half an hour of testing. The rest of the last three months was spent perpetually working up the energy to look at the code, and losing it again before building up enough.

Needless to say, this doesn't bode very well for the future of the project.

I really hope that this is now pretty much it as far as this version is concerned (it's certainly not all the bugs, but I hope there aren't any gamebrakers in it anymore), and that I can devote the times I get around to actually doing something with my spare time to IMS2. I am not very optimistic that this will be a lot of times, because currently family life is really tough. Probably one of the toughest times I've gone through in my life. I knew I wasn't exactly a family guy to begin with, but it seems I still overestimated myself quite a bit when I decided to have kids, and of course there's the little detail of the double delivery...

I hope it will get better, but any progress in the near future will probably be sporadic.

These are the type of patches you should cherish. 10 minutes of code and 30 minutes of testing. If all the bugs I ever fix were like that...

It's been a long while...

I wish I could say it was worth the wait, but the current patch took about 10 minutes of looking at the code and about half an hour of testing. The rest of the last three months was spent perpetually working up the energy to look at the code, and losing it again before building up enough.

Hey, coding for fun is a natural process, forcing it makes it coding for obligation which is very wrong when being done for free. Thanks for the patch, I missed the stable IMS during my few last missions badly. Will give it a try as soon as I finish my business with all the bad guys of L.A. Noir.

Hey, they say the older your kids the easier it goes. They're lying, another age - another problems. But it is true that the older your chldren are the more free time you have. I find myself having much more time to kill now than it was a year back, and I expect it to be even better in the nearest future. Maybe at some point it will even be enough for me to run my own project :shifty:

yippe a new update!!!

i cant wait to try this one. i have been using this for awhile now and like it quit a bit. i am hoping to get a better computer than the one im using now so that i can build better ships and have better F.R. at the same time as of right now i am limited to stations and earth moon ships. so im hoping to use this to build something better as time goes by (have to work on it little by little) i am attempting to build multi ships and dock them together so that they can "feed" off one another and use the engines of each ship to help maneuver the whole assembly (requires that you F3 a lot) but it may work to get me to mars

Thanks
