Another brilliant chapter, Artlav. Describes Mars and the Moons well.
Did you have trouble with Phobos like I did? I found it a pain to manouver on.

No way to fix it

Darn. Not really an issue anyway. I'll have to find a flatter place to land next time.

I didn't bother to actually land UMMU on it - just floated around on it's RCS.

Let's see... Sounds interesting.
The beginning:

Any point in continuing?

WOW! Nice setup, Artlav.
Havn't checked this thread recently, and am very surprised to see such a wonderful collection. This is one of the reasons I had started this, so people would be encouraged to log their ventures and make it their own - glad someone picked up on it.

I was laughing a full minute when you dropped the flag off the cloud base. Thats brilliant!

Brilliant, Artlav. :speakcool:
I'll be off to Saturn once I complete another orbit around Mars, I must say I'm being very haphazard in my path. I guess I could have done it in 2150, around the time or the next Voyager style aligment.
Flying an XR2 in the 70's disturbs me...

I have a question about this:
How do you put the flag in the XR2/DGIV's payload bay? It's really bugging me.

You don't have to, just spawn them with the scn editor. It won't make much of a differance anyway.
If you really want to, use UCD.

Since this is such a good idea, I might make a few scenarios for it that will have fuel + life support in various different places around the solar system. I'll make a seperate one for the XR2 and the DGIV :)

Here are the scenarios;

I added regular refuel and life support systems around the solar system. All credit goes to EliNaut :)

Well, I can say that braking into orbit around Titan hasn't done wonders for my blood pressure.

Now I'll have to try to rendezvous with this refueling station I put there.
Orbiting Titan is scary. I'm not sure where the atmosphere ends or the SOI begins...

Earth?
Artlav what Orulex are you using ? and how are you getting to the outer planets ? slingshots or just burning to change your orbit to the same as there's ?

Orulex 1.2.
From Mars to Jupiter - hohhman (spelling?) transfer, After Jupiter - high-energy transfers mimicking Voyager.

I used a hohmann transfer from Earth to Mars, spend things up and did some sort of high energy thingy from Mars to Saturn; my orbit around the Sun was hyperbolic.

how about mesh land ? or did you not use that ? and that flight plan is better than mine :( I just use the IMFD Target Intercept Autopilot to do it

No one cares to use the Vespucci as the mother ship?

Does Vespucci work with 060929 P1?

Anyway,
Mission Update:
XR2-01 has landed on Titan. Everything is functioning normally and EVAs will begin shortly.
Meanwhile, Deepstar is headed to dock with the fueling station TITAN-02, which is in Saturn orbit.

How high is the atmospheric pressure on Titan's surface?

How high is the atmospheric pressure on Titan's surface?

In reality, about 1.5 times sea level pressure here on Earth.
The density, however, is 3-4 times, if I remember correctly, due to the extreme cold.
Not sure what it is in Orbiter.
Coupled with the low gravity, I'd best describe it in Orbiter like flying though syrup.
I heard somewhere, that a person could strap on a pair of wings on Titan and fly.

Damn, should've put a refuel vessel orbiting Titan rather than a base on my scenarios....

NO!

I had a refuel station around Titan.

Once during cruise, it must have intercepted the atmosphere and flung off into deep space.
Other then that, It could have escaped the SOI due to influence from Saturn.

And trying to dock with a such a station was a nightmare, or maybe that was just because I tried to rendezvous directly with it from a 25km/s rel v
hyperbolic orbit. :suicide:

So I decided instead to dock with a station in orbit around Saturn.
