Program Planning and Screening Processes

The Administration of Exploration Systems Development is screening some program proposals to start this summer quartile.

The Basic Automotive Operations (BAO) program will start this year on July 31st. The program will use civilian on-road vehicles to research basic driver qualification requirements, common and uncommon road conditions, driving laws, and the best driving methods.

The AESD is trying to find funding for a high-altitude aerospace program. Among these may be a sounding rocket program, or the Stratospheric Observation Lifter (SOL) program. These programs would test multiple different experiments at high altitudes, as well as bring back high definition video telemetry. Along with a possible high-altitude aerospace program, an aircraft operations program may also be started.

The AESD has some underwater scientific experience, and technicians from the AESD will be engineering a small ROV this upcoming fall. Some marine programs that have potential to develop this year include the Sub-aqua Remote Operated Vehicle (SROV) program. This would use an ROV to search bodies of water, conduct experiments and missions, and gain marine research telemetry. Also, the AESD has put some time into human sub-aqua exploration, in the form of SCUBA. There is a slot possibly available for a SCUBA program.

AESD technicians are screening these options, and more, for a program where the most funding will be needed. More programs will be proposed, and some of the programs listed may be cancelled by the AESD's council.

More updates will be posted when they become available.
