It's tempting sometimes, but there are excellent historical reasons to reject the idea with a resounding "NO!". Jim Crow demonstrated painfully well how that kind of thing can be manipulated.

You would need transparency. An independent committee could be set up to review the questions for bias.

But of course, then you have to keep the committee members from being biased...

I can't wait for Trump to get a hold of this test and demand that any American citizen whose name contains three consecutive consonants and/or ends with a vowel to take it to avoid deportation.

Most of them would pass with flying colors. Most Americans, however, would fail miserably.

50 out of 50, because maybe I paid attention in 5th grade social studies and currently watch the news?

37/50 :/ I guess I shouldn't go for speed in these tests.

I found one priceless gem:

Q.#3

"What is one promise you make when you become a U.S. citizen?"
A; ...
B: ...
C: ...
D: Never travel outside the United States.

44 / 50. Most of it is common historical and political knowledge.

It was pretty easy, but I fear there's some young adults that spend too much time with their heads stuck up their... cellphones to answer some of them correctly.

We'd gone on vacation to New Orleans several years ago, when we got back the kiddo dumped her boyfriend (mainly for him being stupid?). Anyway, he didn't know anything about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Biggest story on the news for quite a while and he'd not heard a bit of it (too much into one game or another).

I mean, who here wants to be bothered by real life or something.

Well, DC Snowpocalypse 2016 has begun!

20 minutes since snow started sticking and I've already blown through 5 rolls of toilet paper and 3 gallons of milk. I don't know if I'm gonna make it through the next 2 days...

Here, we have prepared for a night of rain falling on -10°C chilled ground. It will get a bit slippery this night.

Luckily... no need for milk and enough toilet paper stored for WW3.

Gas up the car, get enough cases of beer to last a few days (you're not driving, so budget accordingly), put the shovel inside the door. Threat of starvation (*looks down at ample plump male physique*): zero. I'm ready.

Of course, we're only getting 3-5 inches up here, at worst, which means nothing will be closed, no emergency. I'm trying to set a good example for you mid-Atlantic folks so you don't panic. :)

(Highlighted day is today)

Here we'll go from what some years ago would have passed as normal winter weather to minimum temps above freezing in the next few days.

Aside from anxiety about losing power (and thus heat) I look forward to a weekend shut in to do some reading and music and stuff. I hate shoveling, but I don't have much area to shovel anyway. And when the storm is over I get to drive along the Potomac River and hike through the woods and check out the brilliant white sunny landscape.

As long as we only get one, maybe two of these a year I'm cool with it.

You know you're a :censored: when...

... you call in to tech support and the call is answered by an agent with a perfect RP accent, and you insist that they transfer you to "someone who speaks English".
