Just for the sake of statistical outliers, I believe it's a [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackburn_Blackburd"]Blackburd[/ame].

Finally done pretty much everything for school tonight, so I started into a proper DLL for the Andromedan XR2 launch vehicle.

Working on Orbiter modules again, my only thought is "holy :censored:, I can do so much more now!". My first projects were practically the equivalent of rubbing a pair of sticks together compared to this!!!

the only thing that hasnt changed though,

:hailprobe:

It was a Victor

Best Comment "You dumbasses. Its clearly a question mark."

Out of 151 guesses
41 points for Victor plus our 3
55 points for the Vulcan plus our 1

others
6 points for F/A-18, F-16, F-111, Harrier.
3 points for SR-71 blackbird plus our 1
2 points for Concorde
8 points for B-2
2 points for a Question mark
34 points for everyone else who sat on the fence and said "Vulcan or Victor" or "A V bomber".

I find the results clearly interesting about 1/3 got it right, 1/3 picked a better known aircraft (Vulcan) and a 1/3 picked aircraft that look nothing like a Victor.

Important countries that are totally in the wrong place considering natural disasters:

Japan, United States, Indonesia, India/Pakistan/Bangladesh, China

To be continued...

I wonder when Japan will get equipped with continental shock absorbers...
Was it big enough to make the news? Nothing breaking here.

7.3 mag and an expected 1 m Tsunami. Was important enough to get pushed by the "Tagesschau" App on my smartphone and make some alert.

The moment you want to turn off your PC, move your mouse to the right and remember "Oh wait, that's the Windows 7 one...".
Damn you Microsoft for damaging routines engraved into this brain.

It took me less than 24 hours from buying a Surface RT and noticing myself trying to close an application on my Android phone by wiping from the top of the screen to the bottom of it... it is really viral.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand here's the video of the event:

3b20qSl.jpg

'Twas an awesome day.
In the morning there were three shorter lectures, one each from the Politecnico di Milano, the Technische Universität München and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, mainly centered on robotics, with a bloody AWESOME presentation by the TUM, and the use of weather satellites (by the Israeli university).

In the afternoon there was first a (local) presentation on the development history of rockets/launchers in Italy (apparently the word "rocket" itself derives from the Italian "rocchetto", which describes a "rocket-ish" weapon used in a war between Venice and Genoa in the 14th century), a short presentation of the ATV-4 mission, this again held in a network between the three participating sites, and finally the live webcast.

This was then followed by an improvised Q&A session with the mission manager of ATV-5, who happened to be there.

Just a question for our German orbinauts: while the classrooms both in Jerusalem and Italy were filled to the brink, the one in Munich was nearly deserted. Is there a particular reason a student might be discouraged / not motivated in taking part in such an activity?

Not sure you are right with the Italian root of the term:

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conrad_Haas"]Conrad Haas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

While many sources point to the Italian word, since it is closer to the english term rocket - the German term "Rakete" seems to be older than the Italian word "Rocchetto".

The first notion of a Rochetto fireworks article is about 50 years after the book written by Haas - which strangely already contains laval nozzles centuries before the gas dynamic theories had been developed and many modern German terms for rocket parts.

"We were born to make your dreams become true" (1960)

We were born to make dreams a reality,

To overcome a wide-open space.

The wind gave us wings-hands of steel

And a fiery engine instead of a heart.

Interestingly, it's Aviators' march, not Cosmonauts'. Latter is 'Grass by home" song.

P.S.
Hm, I've found quite a good translation of the 'Grass by home', it's 'Grass of Green' now:

On the second thought, it's not exactly a translation but rather another song writter around the same music and feelings and thoughts.

Kadir Nurman, the inventor of the Döner Kebab, has died at the age of 80.

His invention has saved me from starvation more than any other invention.
