There is a customer services technique called 'broken record' where you say the exact same thing to the customer. If you know the customer services techniques it makes complaining a lot more fun.

Compact Discs? Hell, do you know what a minidisc was? What about cassette tape? what about an L.P. / 45?
You forgot Laserdisc. :tiphat:

I just had a bad case of nostalgia, went on eBay and bough a Sony Walkman radio cassette player.
I wish I had kept mine for what seems like another universe ago. Never knew the 2000s where going to suck so bad.

Ah! The Laserdisk! Just like Bettamax and HD-DVD... [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Domesday_Project"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Domesday_Project[/ame]

And, yes, although being only 17, I do know what "like a broken record" means. If you break a world record, you'll be very proud, wouldn't you? So you'd go on and on about it.

Right? :p

Does anyone here ever still say "you sound like a broken record"?

Shouldn't that be "you sound like a stuck record"?

Hmm, maybe a regional difference. Still, nothing beats the old wax cylinders:

My 12 year old told me that a boy in her class loudly announced yesterday that his grandfather, "has all these old huge black CDs" and then indicated with his hands a 12 inch disk.

"Stuck record" sounds better than "broken" for sure - and definitely a regional dialect thing.

I'm surprised that I'm so bored right now.
Dead Island only came out on Friday and I've already had enough of it for a week.
Oh well, I guess I'll just stare at my wallpaper waiting for it to change every five minutes while listening to music. *yawn*

And i always wondered what these letter phone numbers that you see in the movies and an occasional internet AD are all about...

I mean, they were supposed to be called from home phones, and these don't have letters like cellphones do.

Huh? I'm not sure I've ever seen a phone, landline or cell, *without* letters. Decades before I was born, US cities used to have named telephone exchanges, where the first two or three digits were given a mnemonic, e.g, "Operator, get me CAstle 2-6417", meaning 222-6417. Letters on telephone dials goes back to *looooong* before cell phones or texting ever existed.
