Fire RCS'es only when you need. For example when shuttle have to maneuver to OMS burn attitude.

Thanks for the quick response however, you didn't respond to my question for why this is happening. I should also mention that I went into the scenario editor and put the fuel back to 100% and they did not come back online

You can conserve RCS fuel trying following advices:
1. Use VERN thrusters.
2. Let CRT doing all attitude adjustment maneuvers.
3. Don't use much time acceleration, beacuse it can cooperate to attitude maneuvers calculations. It can cause them non-accurate.

A couple of other things that may help: in the SPEC 20 display, reduce the rotation rates (ROT RATE). You can also increase the deadbands; most of the time, you don't need to hold a precise attitude.

The shuttle has a fairly limited supply of fuel in the forward RCS pod, and it's very easy to use all of it up.

SSU 1.25 RMS Problems

I've been experimenting with the RMS in the SSU 1.25 and can't get everything to work just right. I've followed all the instructions in the Development Thread and elsewhere, but can't get the IK rotation to work properly. Also, CTRL+enter and CTRL+backspace do not work for grapple/release; only the buttons in the dialog do.

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

My procedure:
-after RMS deploy/unlatch/shoulder brace release, press CTRL A to go into RMS control mode
-make sure RCS is in rotation mode, Panel A8 mode selector is in ORB UNL or EE mode, Port RMS is selected
-arrow keys and ins/del work well for translational IK movement, but numpad buttons do nothing, with or without numlock on.

This appears to have suddenly sprung up. In the "Atlantis cockpit" scenario, when I try to move to another station, I get a CTD. Here's the log.

I've been experimenting with the RMS in the SSU 1.25 and can't get everything to work just right. I've followed all the instructions in the Development Thread and elsewhere, but can't get the IK rotation to work properly. Also, CTRL+enter and CTRL+backspace do not work for grapple/release; only the buttons in the dialog do.

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

My procedure:
-after RMS deploy/unlatch/shoulder brace release, press CTRL A to go into RMS control mode
-make sure RCS is in rotation mode, Panel A8 mode selector is in ORB UNL or EE mode, Port RMS is selected
-arrow keys and ins/del work well for translational IK movement, but numpad buttons do nothing, with or without numlock on.

Which scenario ?

So far, just the Atlantis Cockpit.
Have you changed the SSU installation recently? Try the modified scenario attached below and see if that works.

Hey guys, I installed the updated scenario for STS-122 as well as the configs and modules, and I'm still getting this issue with the OBSS. Any ideas?

I just tried this tonight. At first I had the no cockpit or externals problem, but then followed the link to get the VS2008 distributables, that solved that.

I've also edited the STS-120 scenario file as per this thread as well. And with the APU's powered up, it launches on time and appears to be on autopilot and all is well..... until SRB-sep.

Once that happens, there is a flash, the cockpit changes, much of it is dark (like the textures got hosed or something), and when you go to externals, the OMS's are burning, even though the ET is still attached... and weirdest of all, I find myself apparently teleported out of the solar system, because even with F9 pressed and all the labels on, there is no sun, no moon, no earth, and no other planets. They are all just gone. Then when I try to go back into the cockpit, it CTDs on me.

This has happened twice in a row so far. First time I Was watching from outside, the second time I tried to let it run from in the cockpit just to see if that had any effect.

You can prevent the shuttle from changing its attitude by setting the DAP to free. I'm not sure why you're getting the OBSS problem, but if you've installed the patches, it's probably a bad OBSS.ini. Try replacing the contents of OBSS.ini with what's posted below.

Does the CTD occur right at SRB sep or a few seconds after?

Do you have CamShake on? I recall that turning thrust effects with SSU messes it up.

Not that I know of... This is a brand new install. Base Orbiter 2006p1, plus Orbiter Sound 3.5, plus Spacecraft3, plus Multistage, plus SSU 1.25. The Orbiter Sound and CRT modules are enabled, but I don't recall seeing a camera shake option anywhere.

Camshake is a module that simulates the camera shakes of thrust, landings, and atmospheric pressure.
