Fixerger,

I certainly don't think it's present in ALL of them, but yes, I've noticed I copied a bad Probe payload string from somewhere, and in those cases the Probe does indeed spawn without fuel. I've been trying to track them down and fix them for a future release; if you could tell me which scenarios you've found it in, that would help.

Sorry about that.

Sure Sputnik. I will give u a list of them after few moments...

By the way, about throttle back... I've used Zenit with Energia boosters (standard scenario) and G's before sep is 9-10 (very high)... so i pasted THROTTLEBACK 30.0 (manual don't say about m/s^2 :D) for the first stage... but then it throttles back in some unknown for me way (still 9 G, no help?). I've tried to paste it for parallel boosters... no help... and then again... after booster sep (there's fuel remain if THROTTLEBACK 3.0) it WON"T throttle up to full power.

And issue again: i saw on beta 2010 velcro don't provide smoke for boosters... they have some strange(different from 2006) colour of exhaust... CVEL Titans don't work in beta 2010. And could you pls include that better Probe mesh from CVEL Titans in Velcro Rockets? :)

Ok... here's the list :O of all broken CVEL strings :O (129 scenarios). Most of that scenarios has wrong cvel strings for fairing... and some for PROBE too (search was done by " 0 0.0 1.0" string). And pls don't forget to correct that wrong string in manual(pg5?)...

Sputnik: I just found a small "undocumented feature" in the throttle back code... it seems to be possible to throttle back, but not throttle back up, for example after boosters are separated.

Ugh. Yes, it reduces MaxThrust, so there's no way to increase it again. I'll have to think on this; I'm not sure how to fix it without breaking something else.

Whew! Well, that's fixed.

It really wasn't so bad as all that; less than a dozen probes that had no fuel when ejected. The rest were all instances of payload fairings or interstages with the extra "0" in the GPDS specification, and while that's wrong, it certainly didn't matter.

Something new for the next update, then.

Hello. Can you check Atlas 55502 Heavy.scn from Velcro EELV...

After 58-60 seconds from the launch it drops FPS very seriously (to 10)...

At about T+60, the engines step-throttle down. Velcro rockets doesn't do step-throttling, so the Atlas 55502 Heavy scenario simulates the core has the low throttle, and is supplemented by an invisible "booster pack" that makes up the remainder of the thrust. At T+60-ish, the invisible booster pack drops away. Why that should drop your FPS, I have no idea.

Hi, can i use DELAYSTART for Centaur(Atlas V 401 mission) when it has STAGE:

STAGE SECentaur Velcro/EELV/SECentaur Velcro/AtlasVSECentaur 0.00 0.00 20.75 22823.00 0.00 1.00
PAYLOAD probe probe probe 0.00 0.00 29.75 1200.00 0.00 1.00
ENDSTAGE

Or it's SERIESBURN only?

Thanks

Fixerger,

Since the SECentaur in this case is a CVEL stage, it doesn't actually "exist" until the moment of staging. So there's no way to tell it to DELAYSTART in the scenario file.

Fortunately, the two-pass search of Velcro Rockets gives us an out here, it's just an awkward one: the only way to do a DELAYSTART on a CVEL payload is to stick it in the .cfg file. I'd recommend you work from a copy, suitably renamed, and reference the renamed version as your CVEL payload. Messier, but it'll get you there.

Using upper stage as a tug for flying to Moon orbit and back. But, when going back to Earth using time acceleration, all fuel from the "tug" (about 30%) suddenly disappears. All autopilots disabled.

Please, help me fix this, its really annoying.

Velcro for a SSTO sim?

Newbie here. Just downloaded the Orbiter sim. Someone suggested Velcro might allow me to do a sim for a SSTO.
Is there a short tutorial for how you go about using it?

Well, you should probably get familiar with the basics of Orbiter operation first, before delving into the arcana of various add-ons, including Velcro Rockets.

Once you get basic operation down, you'll want to be familiar with creating your own scenario files. It's not hard; you edit them with Notepad.

Then, you'll be ready to start fooling around with creating Velcro Rockets vehicles. The basic Velcro Rockets add-on comes with a large (excessive, really) number of samples, and is really self-tutorializing to anyone who's at the level of edit scenarios in the first place. The NovaSSTO scenarios are probably exactly what you'd be looking for.

Since you're the developer maybe you can answer this for me. What I really want is to estimate the delta-V to orbit.
These are the conditions under which I want to estimate the required delta-V:

1.)use a dense propellant such as kerosene/LOX; dense propellants are known to reduce gravity losses.

2.)use a moderate to high liftoff thrust/weight ratio, say, 1.4 and above; high liftoff T/W also reduces gravity losses.

3.)launch near equator to get the ca. 460 m/s tangential boost.

4.)only get to 100 km, the altitude considered space, to just launch satellites or make orbital transfers, not for long term orbits.

Is this doable with a velcro rocket?

Yes and no. Orbiter is, at heart, a physics engine. You don't get out an estimate of delta-V used flying to orbit. You just...fly to orbit. The physics engine does indeed take into account the rotation of the earth, and gravity losses aren't calculated as such, but fall out of the physics engine as it computes thrust and mass and gravity several times a second.

The only question there that bears on Velcro Rockets as such, even a little, is the 100-km question. You can certainly fly there; I'm not sure the autopilot will do it for you, though. There are a few tweaks you can make to it; you'll just have to see. Worst case, you'd have to fly your SSTO to orbit manually.

Hello! Here's one noticable bug in velcro under the 2010 version. Look at attached png.

Any plans for release? :)

What about "dissapearing fuel" again? (message #88 here). Is there a way to fix? Maybe, i'm doing something wrong?

I got few questions:

1. Saturn 1B rocket got some long fairing (very long... but it was quite small when they launched apollo on it IIRC). Fotos: http://abyss.uoregon.edu/~js/images/saturn1b_2.jpg and http://ganymede.nmsu.edu/tharriso/saturn1b.jpg

2. Is there any inline SDLV available for velcro? :) I've read some topic about exotic ET+engines (inline) + Atlas V CCB instead of SRBs :D

Would be cool to see External Tank with engines (Energia-like, inline variant of SDLV), and attach anything you want as SRB and UStages :)

Mc,

The disappearing fuel bug will be fixed as soon as I can fix everything else and package a release. WO2k1 comes first, though....

Fixerger,

There's a small Saturn Ib fairing...I think...somewhere.....

There's no in-line SDLV at present. It wouldn't be hard to make one.

I'm using Velcro Rockets a lot and I love this addon  ! If I can make a few suggestions for a future release, I'd like to see :

- Engines Throttleling via the .scn file (like "THROTTLE 210 1.0 0.6 2", which would mean "210 seconds after the ignition of this stage, begin to throttle down the engine from 100% to 60%, and make the transition last 2 seconds. Possible support of values > 100% (to 120% maybe ?)

- Support of Launch Escape Systems (like "ABORT 0.9 60", which would mean "trigger the ignition of this stage (attached to the vessel XYZ) if the stage that is currently burning is below 90% of it's max. thrust, and jettison when altitude > 60 km).

- Support of Failures (like RELIABILITY 0.95), which would mean that the stage has a 5% probability to shut down (to keep things simple). Which the Launch Escape System would detect, of course.

- Support of a "MaxThrustSL" parameter in the .cfg file : would allow to set the thrust that an engine generates at Sea Level (which is usually lower). Would allow to model even more accurately existing rockets.

Edit : the last item is already implemented, according to Orbiter SDK & Computerrex ThrustControlMFD

Just my 2 cents, and once again, thank you very much for this excellent add-on ! :tiphat:

Is there any chance of being able to strap these together in-game? I'm clueless when it comes to .cfg files.

1. I've added docking port to almost all velcro upper stages and some more to use them as EDS (Earth Departure Stage) - see attachment.
2. Found a problem with the mesh ProtonSTG2 - see following picture
.
3. I found that Velcro Rockets contain R7block configs, but no scenario with it (except of proton with boosters), it's Soyuz rocket.
