Poll What's Your Monitor's Aspect Ratio?

I'm interested to see what's the most common aspect ratio of peoples' monitors, especially since 4:3 is becoming less common. (Disregard the 5:4)

When it was time for me to replace my 4:3 monitor, I went with 16:9. It's more standard and 4:3 is unavailable. (I also can fit a larger widescreen monitor in due to height constraints.)

What's wrong with it? Works for me.

Because all the manufacturers are making their monitors "HD standard" by removing vertical pixels from perfectly good monitors.

Compare: 1600*1200 vs 1680*1050, 1920*1200 vs 1920*1080, 1280*800 vs 1280*720

Also, computer monitors have pretty much been stagnating since the whole HD fad started, and now they're merging with TV monitors, and that drives up the prices of normal PC monitors with normal aspect ratios and respectable resolutions.

Progress has basically stopped at 2560*1600. I blame it on the consoles and TV popularising 16:9 and branding criminally low resolutions as "High definition".

I like how HD video fits my screen "just right" though
(actually, I think my monitor is slightly larger than standard resolution)
Really, you only need higher definition for a larger (or closer) screen. My little laptop looks nice to me.
Just like how there's no point in ordering HD for the TV at my dad's house. It's an HD TV but the size of a small computer monitor and too far across the living room. (the old tv broke)

"1080p" refers to the 1920*1080 standard. Your laptop is slightly above 720p (1280*720).

my widescreen monitor has a native resolution of 1680x1050, a ratio of 16:10

Native 1080p (1920x1080), 16:9. It replaced an old CRT with a native of 1024x768 (4:3).

"1080p" refers to the 1920*1080 standard. Your laptop is slightly above 720p (1280*720).

Blah. I figured I would get that wrong...
Our desktop is 1080 though.

My laptop's built in 17.3" screen is 16:9 (1920x1080) and my external 23" monitor is also 16:9 (1920x1080). While at home, I use the 23" as primary and extend the desktop to the laptop panel. On the road, it's just the laptop panel. HD movies look incredible on either one.

1920x1200 x2 FTW! [Plus a third 1600x1200 (4:3) off to the side I use for VS 2010 output/Task Manager/Winamp/GPU monitoring, etc.] Unfortunately all the new monitors are 1920x1080, though -- looks like 16:10 is on its way out.

I feel a little bit spoiled...but I use a 32" 1080P LG TV that I bought on sale a while back. It works wonderfully as a monitor. I usually run orbiter in 1280x720 (because i only have a laptop) and it is beautiful

I strongly prefer 16:10 and 4:3!
16:9 is an abomination, it's some sort of marketing pet project. HD just plain SuX0rZ..

Spoiled? I'd run away screaming with such a low resolution on such a big screen. You must sit miles away from that thing to not make your eyes hurt! I guess it's nice if you have the space, but I find it hard to work on a monitor that stands too far in the distance, no matter how large. My Cellphone has pretty exactly half your resolution, on an area magnitudes smaller (that's the cheat with "HD-TV". Their actual resolution might be larger than of a common TV set, but for computer standards it's outright ridicoulus!)

21" 16:10 and 19" 4:3 here.
