Question Anti-spam post delay

It certainly is not a standard but is being employed by forums for many years for many reasons.
This measure has effectively stopped 100% of spam from reaching the actual forum.

If you can post two posts within 30 seconds or whatever the delay is, then your posts must be short and uninteresting anyway. Even typing two lines of text and navigating from one topic to another will take more then the delay...

The first two posts for any new member are not posted onto the board straight away. They are held for O-F Staff review. This is done to prevent spam getting onto the board and it works quite well. I'm not sure what the stats are but we are certainly killing more spambots before they get to post publicly.

I usually get this warning when I started replying to two posts at a time. Not really recommended anyway, but happens when you open all threads with new posts that interest you in tabs.

To clarify, there are multiple protection measures employed. One of them is automatically moderating new users, as mentioned by Gary up there.

What you are seeing here is floodcheck protection - minimum 30 s between posts for all users.

You told the secret

Back to the drawing board...

Its also helped me a little, my phone usually tries to post the same comment twice in 2 seconds, and this prevents me looking like raw noobmeat
