First BSOD since almost 1000 days....

Likely caused by Virus scanner update.

so...your unit of temporal cataloging is 'time since last BSOD'?

Of course. And my personal happiness is measured in uptime.

Just saw again the beginning of James Bond "Moonraker", where the bad guys steal a Space Shuttle while it is attached to the 747-carrier. They ignite the SSMEs with some magical fuel and the 747 is blown by the blast

When you are used to Orbiter, there is some weird feeling in seeing a Space Shuttle with the three SSME ignited without any fuel tank below

Now I never tried to fly a tweaked Shuttle without the ET. I guess that the Thrust/Mass ratio is pretty unreasonable in dense atmosphere :p

Halo 4 is way better than Reach. Reach was good in its own respects, but Halo 4 takes the cake. Though (spoiler alert) it's more about Cortana's rampancy than Chief.

Cool! Chief's just been getting flatter and flatter as the series progresses anyway (if that's possible...he started off pretty flat.)

Watch Armageddon next. Where two Shuttles launch right next to each other 5 or so seconds apart. And then the ET is jettisoned at the same time as the SRBs. And then the mains keep burning. And then they do some sort of 9 g slingshot burn thing around the moon.

I haven't tried MP yet, as I've been busy lately, but the singleplayer campaign is beautiful.

Haha, surely sarcastic. PC graphics far exceed current consoles. My xbox freaks out over any game at 720p. And if you want sounds: BF3 all the way.

Really? My PS3 does 1080p games without missing a beat. Not trying to start anything, just sayin'... ;)

And I agree completely, BF3 had THE most realistic and immersive sounds of any military game I've played. BO2 is good, but the grenade sound, for example, just doesn't work for me. Get a bunch of them going off on Nuketown, and quite literally, it sounds like a 4th of July fireworks display here in the States.

Is it really? I've been worried Halo was going down the crapper like so many other popular series. I was a long-time fan until more recently, after losing Reach.
Honestly, they lost me after Halo 2. I was so disheartened that they sacrificed campaign content and length in order to focus on the multiplayer game that I never hung around for Halo 3. I even had an XBox 360 at one time, but I had to sell it just a few months before H3 launched.

n122vu: Ha, yes, I know very well the PS3 out performs xbox on graphics. But PCs still go well beyond 1080p.

Yeah I watched that one. But Moonraker features 7 Space Shuttles launches in a row, that's pretty insane  And even a space battle with US space marines wearing Mercury-type space suits and fighting with lasers  ! Ian Flemning had obviously a lot of fun when he wrote that one :p

Not to mention that the Space Shuttles dock to the bad guys station on the port side, with the station airlock in contact with the hull right aft of the crew access door ...

Wasn't it a V-2 in the original novel and not a shuttle? I mean the novel was probably written in the 40's or 50's, I don't think Fleming knew of a Shuttle back then...

Let's hope we don't have a Jupiter Incident.
What about Saturn one?

Looks like I might need some help later. Stay tuned.

LDO regulators are bloody inefficient.
5 to 10 times more power consumption than a simple charge pump!
I mean, i thought i knew that, but i didn't really know that.

It's neat how the square of the ratio of the orbital periods of two objects equals the cube of the ratio of the semi-major axes of the same two objects.
