Well, keep in mind, this is smaller than Orion which was to hold 4 to 6 people in a 5.02m diameter, so it's still pretty cramped.

CST and the other CCDEV vehicles are all tight on space but they're not intended for extended orbital operations, just station crew rotation. I'm sure any architecture employing a derivative of them for BEO operations would include a soyuz-style hab module.

Soyuz got it's shape because it was designed for lunar ops and wound up as the de facto standard for space stations by accident.

Anyone complaining about the cramped nature of various COTS spacecraft should maybe remember this:

article-1246145-0805E84C000005DC-903_634x329.jpg

It would be interesting to compare the habitable volume per person of an economy class airline cabin with that of the CST-100. The airliner cabin does have more over-head volume, but this isn't really occupied while passengers are seated, and it should also be noted that the space is likely less economically utilised, due to the fact that the cabin is not a microgravity environment.

CST-100 is going to ride on an Atlas V.. not sure if you said but do you plan on using a existing addon or your own Atlas V?

One thing of note: the CST-100 will fly on an Atlas V of the 412 configuration, with ONE Aerojet built solid rocket booster and a twin-engined Centaur. The rocket will look somewhat, um, unique... :p

I know, thats why I got Sputniks permission to use the Atlas 412 meshes and textures to create a standalone Atlas 412.There are two pics below of launch testing(velcro rockets or velcro EELV is not installed in my orbiter directory). Thanks to Sputnik for his permission.

We have a texture breakthrough!I used the mesh wizard program by ar81.Next I'll do the SM although the CM needs further texturing.

Looking good ky

I've been using Mesh Wizard a lot lately, and find myself silently thanking ar81 for the tool.

Can't wait to see how it helps you bring this project forward!

Shouldn't you finish the mesh before getting to texturing? (Like I noted in IRC the other day)

Yes.But I was fooling around with a copy of the CM mesh in Mesh Wizard and edited the material settings.I tested it in Orbiter,It works. Now I need to edit the mesh as you noted in the IRC,and that part of it is set.

Your exhaust is enormous and sideways 90 degrees, in case you are unaware.

Though, not sure why you are messing with exhaust settings yet when your models and textures aren't complete. Go step by step with this, else you'll end up biting off more than you can chew.

I know,im trying to fix the exhaust. And okay,i'll try to take things a little slower.

It seems that your meshes are glowing and don't have reflections or visible difference between illuminated and shadowed sides. May be you should set the emissive color (the 4th color) of all materials to 0.0 0.0 0.0 1.0 . The emissive color is for objects that emit light. Since the hull ( and other parts too ) obviously doesn't emit light it shouldn't have nonzero emissive color.

Ok i'll change it.Is there a way to use another mesh as Configuration 2 in a scenario file?

The config files are just some modified versions of an existing one I had, just to test the meshes in Orbiter. For some reason the exhaust turned up enormous in the CST, but since I don't have a solid thing to work on yet, I ignored the exhaust placement and size.
