Hi,

I have uploaded new version of IMFD. This version should fix the autoburn attitude control problems by changing configuration options. "AB Throttle Down" setting has been restored into a higher level by default in order to give more response time for the attitude controller and prevent overshooting the burn.

When using IMFD with Apollo this setting can be decreased down to 5 or 1 from configuration options display. That would make the engine behaviour more realistic like On/Off.

Question. how do I use the slingshot computer in IMFD for slingshots? there is absolutely no documentation at all on how to use it and it is very disappointing to all of us

I dunno about it being very disappointing, I am more then glad to try to blunder through most features until I can work them out. That being said, a tutorial and documentation is always nice ^^

Entire sling-shot program is somewhat disappointing. Since, it's very difficult to plan a sling-shot but if you have a flight-plan on a paper it sould be pretty easy to execute the plan. Better multi-stage and sling-shot support is under a work for IMFD6.

Lets consider Earth-Jupiter-Saturn sling-shot.

1. Plan Earth to Jupiter transfer stage using Target Intercept
Src = Earth
Tgt = Jupiter
TIn = Time to Jupiter Fly-by

2. Once you cross the edge of the Jupiter SOI...

3. Plan Jupiter to Saturn transfer stage using Target Intercept
Src = Jupiter
Tgt = Saturn
TEj = Time to Jupiter Fly-by = Time to periapis (PeT)
TIn = Time to Saturn Fly-by/Intercept

4. Open Sling-Shot program
Check Pro-/Retro-grade setting witch one gives more resonable data.
TEj = 0.00

Execute 1st burn at the edge of the SOI (If the dV is decreasing this can wait)
Execute 2nd burn much deeper in the SOI

To those new with IMSO:

Listen to this person...he wrote it.

The above quote is a really concise hint on how to use IMFD.

Jarmonik will probably do better docs with version 6. Remember, Jarmonik, an addon is only any good if people can use every feature easily. Docs are king!

I would be happy to work on the docs and really get them clear and easy to use... I do lots of technical writing on manuals etc and I think I'm pretty good at that. Jarmonik, if you need help compiling the docs, send them my way

Jarmok, you know what my tutorials look like (at least the non-pdf docs I make here that have no pictures). Jarmok helped me with some aspects of one of my tutorials for these forums called "From the Earth to The Moon" an AMSO 1.17 Apollo 11 Full Mission Tutorial Using IMFD 5.1h
...
and it wasnt a terribly great tutorial but I have gotten some praise on it.
I am anxious to use the new IMFD 5.1j version.

I would ask only 1 thing of you Jarmok, if you can do this for us here. Can you make all the versions of IMFD back to say 5.1b available? Some of us (including me) kinda get used to the older versions and become fluent in the interface and it would be very nice to have the older versions available to us if we need them for some reason or another.

I myself have become very fond of IMFD 5.1g and h and since my tutorial says to use these versions I thought it would be nice for newcommers to be able to download those versions if they wanted.

Also, I would be absolutely extactic to be able to help you Jarmok in any way shape or form with documentation or tutorial docs as well. I would also love to be a beta tester or any other kind of tester if you need me for any of those support roles.

Your biggest fan,
Adam R
