Lucky you. The government took away all my scholarships because they believed I had a money tree growing in my back yard, and I couldn't convince them otherwise, so I had to forgo college.
I lost my minimal government support after half a year, because my brother got a stipend of the local car company and thus, had been considered as too rich to get such support.
Bad news: Having to work exponentially increasing hours (in the end at the legal limit) to pay the tuition fees.
Good news: After leaving university, I only had to repay less than €500 with the sentence "We expect you to repay this in quarter year rates, but you can also choose to repay it all at once" - to describe the order of magnitude: I had to pay less for the government education subsidies I received in my university career than for 6 months of studies...which was in the end near 800 € per half year - yes, that is still cheap compared to Anglosaxon countries, but then we still have no properly working loans and only 2% of all students receive stipends in Germany. Earning enough as student to pay almost €150 per month is extremely hard.
