Crap-crap-crap!

They won't give me steam... In the meantime we've been busting our butts on the main turbine/generator, and we've got it ready. All oil pumps/hydraulic fluid available and running, and it's on turning gear.

"B" feed pump work is moving to 'front-burner', but if does not need to be overspeed tested this cycle. So basically we're just moving back and forth at the whim of the outage control (out-of-outage control is more like it).

Whatevs... Chaos creats cashflow.

Really wish Atlantis was moving on Wednesday or Thursday. I might actually be able to attend the move if it were during the week. Oh well, story of my life..... [/drama]

Can you guess what is being powered and what is the power source in this image?

That's usually good, unless you plan for a great day off but then it's ruined by a 23 hour power outage.

*laughs maniacally from California*

Bah, you californians wish you were one of us. We lumberjacks of the north barely notice when our spacecraft depressurize, because the vacuum of space doesnt seem any colder than January at home .

Judging by lack of capacitors (I suspect they're resistors) in this pic I'd say they're small christmas lightbulbs or similar small lightbulbs ripped out from some old soviet made toys.

Battery can be copper-zinc pile but with amount of steps I'd say it produces around 12V of voltage.

Well, it's a bit more absurd than that.

The lights are neon bulbs.

The battery...
I received a few hundred Chineese CR2016 batteries, that weren't good for anything (and didn't cost anything, so it's a fair deal).

So, to save on space i've packed them into a ball bearing box, which looked enough like a battery to make me wonder, what if?

Turns out 45 of them give out 148 volts - quite enough for these neon bulbs.

So, when I edit a post, I lose all the 'Thanks'?
My ego! :(
No. They remain (just refresh the page). You lose them only when you (or rather a moderator) merge a couple of your posts which had "thanks" into one.

(from here)

Instead, we got the H-IIB.

The 'Cruiser got steam today. Feed Pump "B" rolled up as advertised and I got to see and do it all. Stuck between campy Scottish accent and grunt noises, I settled instead for a big cheesy grin (as did several of the other gathered people who are oh-so-very happy to see this end of this outage approaching).

The plant entered mode two yesterday, and should sync to the grid here in a few hours.

Edit -
New day at work, and the plant entered mode 1 early this morning. We are currently at 18% power and climbing to a planned "hold-point" for furthur acceptance testing of the new Foxboro DCS controls for aux feedwater, as well as some required testing that would have taken place anyway. So while the outage might be "over", there is still quite a bit of testing to do as we climb up.

Just realized why people still listen to classical music. If you work and want to have music, because otherwise you start thinking and get distracted, Beethoven is a better choice than Motörhead...
