If we are getting to the point of immortality drugs, it perfectly helps to my "conviction" (We are getting close to basement here, talking about something like religion):

Well then, off to the basement we shall go! See you there for a spirited discussion...

Talking of (the Basement) Shouldn't there be a section for political/provocative/trolling blogs?

Did somebody see "Europa Report"? If so: What do you think?

My immediate thought was that I could do a better job than their writer.

Spent the next month writing half of the novel, then got stuck because my world construction led to some contradictions I could not resolve. (Remember, the goal was to do a better job than they did). NB my story was built around an actual Jupiter/Europa flight plan tested in Orbiter :)

When I was a kid, we were shooting at birds with slingshots and bows.

I guess my kids will have more attractive targets. I just hope their aim won't be any better... :shifty:

History about to repeat itself?
In the 19th century people hunted mail pigeons.
In the 21st they would hunt mail drones?

Quite a few tornadoes. One even formed close enough to Norman to be seen; everyone of course was leaning over balconies to watch it rather than taking shelter as the siren wailed.

Some people like getting disturbingly close to them:

The curse of all the storm chasing for tourists. It makes it look like a harmless fun. Seen the video of the two tornadoes near a power plant in Iraq? The camera was only about 300m away from where the tornado formed, right during the 14 minutes of the video, very educational.

More tech from Germany - In Rottweil, a 246m high turret is finishing construction, which will be used by Thyssen-Krupp for testing new elevators, which have a surprising similarity to the Turbolifts in StarTrek.

Remember the game i posted not so long ago?
Here is the browser version:
http://orbides.org/apps/the_bits.html

I'm curious whether it's playable this way or not - seems like it lags in some browsers and you can't turn in others.

(Controls: W and S to accelerate/deellerate, points to wards the mouse cursor, mouse button fires, space pauses. Goal: Blow up the reactor on the mini-death-star).

usable energy (heat for example)
Don't they plan to generate it directly from the magnetic field's rotation? At least in the magnetic confinement schemes.
