General Question Spaceship One Cockpit View

Hi,

I hope that this is a straight forward easily solved question due to a simple ignorance on my part!

I am using the excellent addon 'spaceshipone' for the orbiter program and have no problem at all EXCEPT after launching spaceship one from the mother ship the ONLY cockpit view I can get is a 'virtual' view which is situated at the very back of the spaceship looking forward with backs of heads of the other passengers in the way? I get a HUD view over the top of this but it is really frustrating as I would like either an exclusive HUD view or a cockpit view that isnt situated from the very back of the spaceship?

How do I change views when flying spaceship one?

Have you cycled thru available camera views yet? Kind of odd that it would default to a passengers view...

I would also like to know how to change this camera view. It can cause problems when the only time you get HUDs is when you can't see where you're going.

I used Cam Control to move the view so I could see out the window.

Somewhere on the Forum is a replacement texture, making the passengers transparent, I'll try to find it.

Thanks for the link! That's helped. I would also like the cameras on the tail and the one looking down the fuselage at the engine to be available, like in this Orbiter video:

Hi thanks for the replies and the link to the replacement textures making the pax transparent.

The new textures certainly make it slightly better however it is still frustrating and hard to fly the thing from 'inside' the spaceship.

Any other ideas on how to get rid of the 'cockpit' altogether and just have the hud displayed?

Press F8 until you get to the glass cockpit.

Like I said, try CamControl by Reburne:

RedBurne's good at this, I have it and it works well. I usually move the camera to a point just behind the left or right window, depending on how I plan to make my landing approach. You can also move it outside the skin of the vehicle, so you can have a view looking down the roof.

Hi, I have installed cam control it seems the best option so far..

I have tried pressing f8 but this does absolutely nothing? F8 certainly works with the other addons like delta glider but not with spaceship one?

Is there any way perhaps of editing the 'mesh' file in spaceship one to get rid of the internal view altogether?

SpaceShip doesn't have a real virtual cockpit, it just has the camera inside the mesh by default, so F8 won't work with it. I'm not sure you can edit anything, because I think it's a custom DLL.
