Therius Space Agency was formed to provide low cost space travel and access to orbital lab facilities to the private sector. The agency is a private venture only. You can read about it's missions in this blog.

A space station will be constructed and maintained by TSA for rental as a whole or per module to any nation/company. The station will start out small, but it will grow larger if there is enough demand. Other options are to use short term ATV or Viking modules that can be rented and launched to orbit for experiments, spying , tourism etc.

The main headquarters of TSA is located on Ascension Island at Wideawake International Base. This base has two launch pads and facilities for XR-2 Ravenstar space planes designed by Altea Aerospace. Currently the fleet consists of:

• One Energia Heavy launcher
• One XR-2 Ravenstar
• Ariane 5 launchers for ATVs or Pegase CTVs
• Jarvis Heavy Launcher with Antares Capsule
• A surplus NASA space shuttle called the Constitution

The Energia Launcher will be used to launch heavy loads for space station construction. The first mission was an Energia launch with the core station module, Cassiopee, from Sumatra Island, Indonesia at a facility called SRC Polygon Base. This mission was performed June 9th, 2012 and was a success. More details on this mission (mission 1) will be in the next update. Logistically it’s easier to launch from SRC Polygon than Ascension Island.

The XR-2 Ravenstar will mainly be used as crew shuttles to and from the station. With the ability to carry up to 14 crew members and able to make a quick turn around, this vessel is great for quick trips. Ravenstar also has a crew hab module for extended stays in orbit.

A cheaper alternative to our customers is the CTV Pegase that is launched from an Ariane 5 launcher. This is great for small crews to travel to LEO for missions less than 14 days. They can be sent with Viking lab/hab modules as well. This is a cheaper option than rental on the space station for short duration experiments. The launcher can also send supplies to the station via ATV. ATVs can also be used for station keeping.

Antares is an option for longer duration visits to orbit and is an option for experiments and travel to station as well. Separate rockets can launch a lab/hab module for more room in the capsule. This is slightly pricier than the Pegase CTV but has a longer stay time in orbit. If you have the means, this vessel can even carry you to the moon! But it's not cheap.

Nothing gets station building done like a NASA space shuttle. Constitution was purchased from NASA and will be used for the construction of the space station. The shuttle missions will be launched from Cape Canaveral due to logistics. NASA is gracious enough to let us rent their pad for shuttle launches. The shuttle will be maintained by TSA and stored on site.

The next update will give more details on TSAs first mission, the launch of the stations core module.

Good luck. If you ever want to write an article and have it posted in the Orbiter Magazine, contact me.
