Well, it was really just the sign-in being offline yesterday. Worked without a hitch this morning.

I kind of thought it would be impossible that a simple log-in service could be offline for several hours in an architecture like microsofts. What the hell were they doing?

Putting all their code into a shiny new Git repo

Finally back online for some hours... what a week. My plans ended when my girlfriend and I parted ways, with me waiting useless in a room and she going to the surgeon... Now I slowly try to find back into some sort of organized chaos. GF, newborn son, daughter and dog are all fine, state of the father is best described with "nuts".

Say welcome to Liam Niklas... he started life with 3980g mass, 55 cm length and 38 cm head circumference, after loosing 100 g during the first days, he is now doing what his parents can't: Just eat and sleep in repetition.

Wow. That's almost twice as heavy as both my boys together at birth.

He, yeah... The state of my Wife the first day after birth was best described with "on drugs". Literally. Didn't help my sanity much either.

Congratulations on a clean birth, and on many sleep-deprived months ahead!

Yeah. My girlfriends shares a room with another young mother, her daughter was just about 2600g... when I was asked to help her put her child back into its bed, I was extremely underburdened after carrying my son for some time. Almost three pounds difference.

I still need to ask for one bag of those painkillers they gave her... what ever manages to make her sleep after being awake for days, must be very good.

Got Stellaris the other day (only a couple days left to get it for $12 with Humble Monthly!).
I thought Civ games were long. I've been playing my first game all week!
When I look for tips online, I unfortunately mostly find outdated information. It seems the game has changed quite a lot. I keep seeing what seems like basic gameplay features but apparently didn't exist a few months ago!

It's a paradox game. They always support their games heavily for an extended period after launch. I think it was 4 major patches since release.

So I just finished the entire original Twin Peaks TV series, as well as the prequel movie. Somehow I missed this entire show back in the early 90s.

Wow, really weird and creepy. The prequel film is way darker then the TV show and lacks the show's humor, but it's really good, even if you feel like you need a shower after watching it.

Now I'm all set to start watching the new 3rd season which just started!

Fair warning to everyone

On Wednesday, Lego will be releasing a new Saturn V. It will be 1.1m tall and is priced rather competitively. Quality and accuracy is reported to be very good.

It has been released to some stores, but don't expect another manufacturing run so get in quick if you want it.

For some reason I stopped caring about Legos after I got to high school...as opposed to say, Star Wars toys.

I've already got a Saturn V in 1:96 scale in the room (paper model approx 4 feet tall). I'm currently building a 1:144 scale that'll be much easier to display, I think the wifey would prevent me from investing in the Lego kit. As cool as it would be :)

The one moving REALLY freaking fast, if I'm understanding things right.
EDIT: Yeah, the streak from the side of frame is the interceptor, as there's a clearly visible burnt-out upper stage of the launcher coasting nearby.

Google to let publishers charge users for ad-blockers

Google will let publishers ask people who use ad-blockers to either enable advertising or make a payment to view content without ads.
"Funding Choices" will roll out first in North America, UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, Google said in a blog.

I already avoid soft paywalled sites.

I've been playing Overwatch for the past week, and one of the payload escort maps (Gibraltar, which is an orbital launch site according to the lore) involves an "XR-9" satellite drone.

No problem with good paywalls... if I get something for my money. But I hate paying money for three barely edited sentences of the national news agency. Or poorly researched FUD, that is already a lie after 12 hours.

After all, I also pay for my music and my video games... why not pay for good information?
