For being drunk, he sure did a great job of driving through a couple of those open doorways without touching the sides...

Gardening seems to be harmless, because you rarely dig deep enough.... but becoming excavator driver in Germany is somewhat more risky.

If you ever wonder why big construction projects take so long in Germany right now: One possible explanation could be all workers deciding to leave work early and have a drink after hearing a metal sound during digging.

Just a random question: How does the UXO situation compare between East and West Germany? I saw something on Youtube that talked about how in many cases areas were rebuilt without being swept for explosives, and now when old buildings are replaced by new construction in those areas there's a fair risk of stumbling on UXO. On the other hand, I know that in East Germany there were a lot of areas demolished in WWII that were never rebuilt before reunification. How did that affect UXO sweeping? On the one hand, I'd expect that the same factors that contributed to areas not being rebuilt before unification would probably mean that they weren't swept for UXO before that time. On the other, I'd expect West German construction firms to have a bit more experience with UXO by the time of reunification, and thus for reconstruction of demolished areas in East Germany to be done a bit more cautiously.

What had more an effect is the range of the bombers and their escorts, which causes a mild north/west vs south/east divide.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ion-bomb-dropped-Allies-Second-World-War.html

As you can see in the maps, the range of the bombers and their respective payload for a mission is easily visible during the war - at the Rhine valley the bombers had been able to drop nearly their whole payload mass as bombs, while Dresden only permitted about 2 tons of bombs per bomber.

But still, as you can see in the statistics - even small payloads hurt and leave UXOs behind. For example, Leipzig was only destroyed by 20% by strategic bombing, which made it a relatively weakly hit industrial center. But this year alone had two major UXO discoveries that needed to be disarmed. A 500 kg bomb had to be detonated where it was found, it was not possible to defuse it.

Non-Germans being left in place?

Of course, we let the Daily Mail reporters conduct an interview with the bomb.

But generally: Evacuation means it - anybody who has no purpose to stay there has to be outside.

There is a defacto curfew in place, but the only people mad enough to venture outside are Darwin award candidates. So far there are no reports of any injuries, but when parked cars go flying like that most people have the sense to stay indoors.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I don't blame the rescuers for bailing out on this one.

Pretty "colorful" language but Faroese is obscure enough that we usually get away with it. :) Anyway if there's any situation where this kind language is appropriate, this is it!

Partial failure of a waterfall. Most of the water fails to fall.

Finally had time to fool around. Still WIP (needs vocals, solo and few touches) but made it pretty far already.

Whooo man, listening to a demo track like this brings back memories from a past life...

Overall a nice first attempt, very classical, good to work of. If I may put in a few suggestions:

That gallop needs more palm, unless you want to take this thing into a black metal direction, but in general it doesn't sound like it. Overall the distortion needs more middle, and of course the whole thing needs more bass, but preferably by adding an actual bass, not by putting more bass into the guitar.

Decide on actentuation in your rythms. Right now, it feels like your drums and your rythm guitar are playing two different songs, while they should form a closely knit union. This concerns the bassdrum most of all, of course, which doesn't seem to bother much with what the rythm guitar is actually doing. Then again, it is hard to tell what the rythm guitar is really doing, due to the lack of propper palm muting during the galloping.

In the parts where you let the chords roll, practice your left-right hand coordination. There shouldn't be an audible gap between the chords. If neccessary, play the chords on other frets so you don't have to switch strings, or at least not all of them.

I hope you don't get annoyed. I spent a while working as a band coach, consider it professional deformation

I'm not annoyed at all. Just to address some things:

- I'm left handed guy playing right handed guitar - makes phrasing notes bit difficult.
- You can hear some bass there however it's guitar pitched down octave (don't have proper bass guitar)
- Since I'm recording bare guitar signal It'll be easy to "re-amp" the thing and bump up mids. Same with drums as they're just midi driven drums.

I think with vocals, solo and proper mix it'll be nice song.

As for professional deformation I cannot look at any poster/billboard or any large scale printing application without finding flaws.

Stringed right-handed, or upside-down?

Uh, uhm, yeah... a bass-guitar from a sampler would probably yield better results in this case.

Yeah, that's the nice thing about virtual amps. Though they still have to convince me that they can do a decent speaker emulation. Our guitarist usually looped the guitar through the distortion of the V-amp, and then recorded the output with a microphone of the speakers. Even with lousy speakers, the result was still better than the "speaker"-emulation by the Vamp. But getting your guitar sound right is a thing that takes months of incremental fiddling anyways, so take your time.

Never mind, seems to have just been extremely confusing timing in a few hickups of my modem...

Stringed right-handed eg I play like right handed pearson.

I plan buying used bass guitar for that purpose.

Devil is in the details however it's way better than my previous attempts at getting decent tone.

In another forum I found a thread where people are basically taking turns trying to write the most depressing Christmas posts. Some of these are hilarious.

My kid asked me, "Daddy, why don't I get any toys for Christmas?"

"Because Santa hates poor people," was my answer.

My kid thought on this a moment, then said, "Christmas sucks."

"It sure does," I replied.

My birthday is december 26th. in 1996 when I turned 18 on december 26th my Dad gave me 800 dollars in 50 dollar bills, told me to pack my backpack then drove me to the Greyhound bus station and said "Have a nice life son. Out of respect for your Mother and I please live at least 100 miles away."
That was depressing as hell.

My kids are grown and never call me unless they need money.

My wife left me 5 years ago and took the house that I paid the mortgage off over 30 years. She sold the house and bought a condo in Bethesda where she lives with her boyfriend. My beloved dog died two years ago. I am getting forced out of my government job because I got my 30 years in and I'm old.

I spent the last couple nights at a lonely motel room next to the interstate drinking myself silly because I could not bear the Christmas :censored: going on at work and in the crappy apartment building I now live in.

I hope my story makes others feel better.

:rofl::(

So, right hand picks, left hand frets? If you've learned it that way from the start, that should work out alright, I think. At least it does for drummers... :shifty:

Looks like the FAA has made it easy to fulfill their "drone registration" requirement.

Just filled out a form with basic info and paid $5 via the same form to get a single unique number to mark my drone with (and any others that I obtain in the future).

Now my next challenge is finding a location more than 5 miles from an airport in one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the nation... At least when I go back home after the holidays I won't have this problem!

Anyone else noticed they took the pilot out for the walking demonstration? I guess the thing is still a bit wobbly in the knees...

Decidedly wobbly. I can't think of any use for it?
