Among bits and Bytes...
We should have a contest to finish that headline...

"...shocked to find world not ruled by apes and led by Ceasar the chimp."

"...amazed at how the outside world doesn't smell like a locker room."

or whatever.

"...pissed off because someone forgot to pack toilet paper."

After 4 long days without internet connection, I am back.

The upgrade to VDSL2 failed epically on Monday, leaving me without internet and VOIP services. But now it seems to work... the update orgy after 4 days without internet on my notebook had been done in 20 minutes.

Hi. My screen resolution is 1920x1080. Why I can't play orbiter with that resolution?

Based on the information, that you provided for helping you and in the context of the random comments thread, I would say, the problem is caused by your display having been cleared at too high substrate temperatures between the frames.

Not all. D3D9 works. But orbiter only allows me 1536x834 as maximum resolution and my screen is 1920x1080.
Is there a specific reason why you need the regular Orbiter.exe working? Orbiter with D3D9Client is far superior to the regular Orbiter inline client which uses D3D7 which is much older.

I use D3D9Client.But I don't know why orbiter (d3d9) doesn't run in 1920x1080.

Better return this discussion into your thread... here it might get lost. Also I would check if you did enumerate devices and screen resolutions properly.

If D3D9Client works, what does it matter? If you want that resolution, go with D3D9.

Just finished Deep Space Nine, what a great series.

Announcement: Hatsunia might have a new flag.
(note: if chosen, it will retcon the previous flag, and I'll have to make small changes to my add-ons)

New flag:

Current flag:

What makes the new flag different is that instead of being based on Japan's disc, it is based on the city flag of Chiba, Japan.

Some people think that the flag of Chiba looks like Hatsune Miku...

...and so I feel that the new flag may better represent Miku and the shape of the Hatsunese archipelago:

The problem I see is that it may be less distinguishable when the flag is small.

So, which flag would you prefer?

Flags should be drawable by a five year old, overcomplicating the flag will not help with that.

Even though the new flag looks a bit more complicated, it still is much simpler than the "original" (which stole elements from the United Federation of Planets insignia)

I think the old one is better... in my eyes, the new one offers a huge open flank for salacious jokes. Not sure if that was your intention. The map also allows some prurient interpretations...

 If this was a Rorschach test, this was my Waterloo... :eek:h:

Don't worry, it wasn't. But I got a similar comment when I posted that flag on another place where flags are discussed.

If this was a Rorschach test, this was my Waterloo...

Here's another one for you, then... the unfortunately cropped and colored image on the back label of a montenegrian wine maker, depicting the location of the country  (unfortunately I couldn't find a better image, and the wine isn't available in my vicinity... a real pitty, the Merlot is really good for its price):

On-topic, being a man mostly devoid of visual imagination, I think the new flag looks better... but I have to agree with the rest here, it's too complicated for a flag.

Looks like I'll definitely fail if I had to took the French Baccalaureate's (high school diploma) philosophy class.

Here are the questions for this year's exam:

  • Does an artwork always have a meaning?
  • Is politics free from a requirement of truthfulness?
  • Is respecting all living beings a moral duty?
  • Am I what my past has made of me?
  • Is the mind of an individual nothing but a reflection of the society of which he is a part?
  • Does the artist give something to understand?

(plus 3 more to choose from where you need to answer your opinion on some article excerpt from philosophers)

Pick one subject, write 6 to 10 pages, in 4 hours. Yup.

Anyone have an answer to these questions above?
